Story Brendon vs Callum vs Jono - A Worcestershire Battle

haha, i misread your previous post. Now I see why you said it. It was against the Unicorns anyway.

Last season I lost one of my matches against them, and Jono lost both of his matches against them. :p

Are you guys in their group this season, or are you in the Ireland or Netherlands one?

I didn't think the groupings changed? I'm with the Unicorns who are above me on the table at the moment...

I rarely play the same save long enough to find out. :p
They probably don't though, going by the fact that they're in both yours and my group.

Gloucestershire win by 3 wickets

Experimented a bit with the lineup by playing only 4 specialist bowlers and hoping that the part-timers could get through 8 between the four of them. It worked in the weirdest way, improving the bowling, while the batting effort was poor. Despite being on a reasonably high aggression rating both Kelly and Mitchell were reluctant to hit the boundaries, before weirdly sparking into life in the 9th over with Kelly smashing a number of boundaries. Mitchell however was incredibly slow, and this placed a heap of pressure on the other batsmen to up the tempo, a job at which they failed at. Richardson made some early breakthroughs, but a partnership between Marshall and Snell effectively sealed the deal, despite some wickets from Mitchell. We now sit right on the bottom of the table, below Gloucestershire who have a terrible NRR (They lost by 200+ runs a while back, being bowled out for 44). I just can't play OD matches

Comments:

Well a reversal of the result earlier in the season where we lost by a couple of runs. Rankin finally found some form with the ball back in the side, taking 4 wickets while Arif and Wheeldon both bowled well taking 2 wickets a piece while Flowers was pretty disappointing with 1/44. Our batting wasn't the best but 3 scores got us over the line, Stafford batted extremely well for his unbeaten 73, Moore made a quickfire 76 at the top of the innings where Mitchell supported him well for his 41. Apart from that, nobody scored in double figures so we were lucky to win this one.

And I am actually not in the Unicorns group, I have Scotland in my group.

btw Aimson played one test and scored to half centuries to average like 60 in tests :)

Result:

Worcestershire win by 8 wickets, with 57 balls remaining

Points:

Worcestershire 2
Yorkshire 0

MOTM:

Daryl Mitchell (109* off 106 balls)

Reaction:

Scary stuff from Mitchell since his comeback, 95* off 83 balls, and now 109* off 106 balls. Even though we lost Ravel early, Solanki came out and played very well, before getting out with only a couple of runs to win.

I've got all sorts of great batting problems for my next FC match. Six specialist batsmen are averaging over 40 this season, and they've all got over four stars of form, but I can only play five of them.

Bowling wise our next FC match will be a real test. It's a must win match, and someone like Davies simply has to produce a match winning spell of pace bowling. We're versing the only team below us on the table (Middlesex), hence why we need to win.

Points:

Worcestershire 22

Comments:

13 more wickets to add to Calvin Flowers tally. Already 71 wickets this season and should be topping the wicket charts easily by the end of the season. Also showed promise with the bat this match with a nice fifty. He's averaging 25 with the bat in FC cricket so he's been a handy batsman as well. Thornely held the bat for Sussex in the first innings but had no support as Flowers took 6/90. Our batting innings was pretty good with only Choudhry scoring less than 30. The only negative was that even though 5 people passed 50 and one scored 49, noone managed to go on and make a big century, Kervezee getting the closest unluckily falling 4 runs short. I finally decided to declare when Adler got out for 87 and we bowled them out with Flowers again taking 7 wickets. But then I guess when your one of only 3 bowlers to bowl over a hundred overs, then you're most likely to take the most wickets, having bowled 336 overs, only Arif (171) and Wheeldon (114) having bowled more than a hundred. Now we had to beat Leicestershire.
