Worcestershire win by 104 runs

Yay another FC win :) A decent team batting effort in the first innings got us to a pretty good score, though the collapsed as it is prone to do. Mitchell took 234 balls for his 57, dropping anchor to prevent a collapse. Ali and Aimson played very well though. In their first innings it was good to see Ireland getting some wickets, which should hopefully get him into some sort of decent form. Lots of starts in our second innings, but no high scores as we made it to 325 reasonably quickly. They had 399 to chase in one day, but some good bowling from Finn and Rankin this time had them dismissed for 294, though the last wicket did provide a bit of resistance, lasting for 86 runs. We got 22 points from this win, and are in 8th position on the table, but with a game in hand.

Ok, we're all back even now.

I just played my next match, so I'll post it later tonight.

Northamptonshire win by 6 wickets

We seem to be very inconsistent, and not just between each match, but within a match as well. In the first innings we just collapsed, and it would have been worse had it not been for a partnership between Kelly and Kervezee. In return, we struggled to bowl them out, with their number 9 managing to score 91 which was rather embarrassing. The scene was set for a typically aggressive counter-attack which we managed to pull off to an extent. The top 6 all made at least 40, but only Aimson and O'Brien continued onwards. We should have been able to save the match, but the tail collapsed to leave them with only 150odd to chase in the fourth innings in two sessions - a pretty simple task.

Comments:

Calvin Flowers, what a ████ player. 4/28 and 1/66, doesn't get much shitter than that. Was outbowled by both Arif and Rankin and he only scored 37 with the bat as well. Because of his ████ second innings bowling performance, they ended up scoring nearly 300 but good batting from Wheeldon, Mitchell, Moore, Adler and Arif gave us the chance to put in another innings win. Mitchell is in great form with not one low score this season. In all innings (recent first) this season, he has scored 83 (FC), 100 (FC), 80 (FC), 41 (OD), 48 (OD), 47 (FC), 38* (FC), 34 (FC), 59 (OD), 33 (OD). Stephen Moore has been completely the opposite meanwhile as his partner, very inconsistent as he's scored a huge century, 6 fifties in total this season, most around 70 runs, a few starts with scores around 30 and some very low scores. But he's averaging over 40 in both FC and OD cricket so I don't need to worry too much. Our current starting XI top 7 batsman are all averaging over 40 with the bat, with 4 over 50 and then Flowers and Arif are both averaging around 30 with the bat as well. Bowling wise, Flowers has taken 91 wickets @ 13.4, Arif is averaging 26.59 with the ball, Rankin and Russell average around 33 and Richardson and Shantry are both averaging over 40 with the ball.

Anyway, now onto the T20's and time to play some of the reserve batsman so my first team players don't lose form in the inconsistent format.

You're complaining when you won by an innings :lol

Reaction:

A pretty comprehensive win there, which lifts us outside the bottom two for the first time in a while.

Our bowling's really starting to click, which is the most important aspect when you're looking to win FC matches, as you need to take 20 wickets.

Batting wise we're still yet to find that form we had a few games ago, but hopefully it's only one innings around the corner.

With the T20s coming up, hopefully we'll be able to convert our 5 out of 5 OD record into a good T20 campaign.

Match Drawn

We performed pretty well with the bat like usual but with a pitch not suited for spinners, Komasaru was not able to take any wickets, which is most likely the reason why we couldn't push for victory. That and the intermittent rain which disrupted our first innings. In their new positions Aimson and Ali looked incredibly settled, scoring fine centuries. The pace bowlers did alright, but it was rather annoying not to get Dexter and Shah out earlier, because the rest of the batsman didn't really do too much. Komasaru wasn't threatening at all, and Richardson was containing rather than penetrating. Still, it was nice to get a first innings lead. Mitchell, O'Brien and Ali pushed onwards in the second innings as we tried to make a total that was challenging enough for Middlesex to try and attain it, leaving them 285 in two sessions. Once Ireland got both openers out early however, their thoughts turned more to saving the match, and the batsman played on the placid pitch with ease. We got 9 points from this match to leave us in 8th, though only 3 points behind Middlesex.

For some reason you (Jono) have played an extra OD game, we must catch it up later.

Aimson's a normal batsman

Yea it's the way the season works for some reason. Got the T20s now

And as luck would have it my T20 player, Sehwag, is injured :facepalm

Ok, we're just say we're even now, even though you (Jono) have played an extra OD match.

Well you guys are looking like you'll get into the next round for the OD tournament so you'll probably have extra games later :p

Comments:

Well everybody knows I hate T20's. Di Venuto scored 83 for them which gave them that huge total. Mitchell was the pick of the bowlers with a good ER and 3 wickets but the rest really failed to make much of an impact, Rankin and Flowers the 2 next best bowlers. Batting wise, we were always behind and even Ali's late surge, the last 30 odd runs coming off only about 13 balls wasn't enough to get us over the line. de Villiers was very good with his 50 and Mitchell and Stafford showed promise but none could play a match winning knock.
