Worcestershire win by 6 wickets

I thought we had no chance of winning this match when they managed to pile on 206 due to my lack of a fifth bowling option, but we smashed their bowling to submission in winning our first T20 game of the season. Rankin started off beautifully with 3 early wickets, but Oram was very stubborn, and with support from the lower middle order, he was able to smash the part time bowlers around, as well as take quite a few runs off Ireland and Rankin. Mitchell and O'Brien were up to the challenge however, and looked in great form as they scored half centuries at a strike rate of 200 or more. Mitchell's 88 came off just 44 balls, while O'Brien's 61 came off a scarcely believable 26 balls. Solanki, Aimson and Kervezee were able to keep the momentum up, with none of the Northamptonshire bowlers spared, as they all went for over 10 an over. Aimson finished the match off with a 6 to emphasise how effective our batting was in this match. This win moves us up one place to 8th, but the 9th placed team has played a match less than us and have a far greater NRR. Still a great match and hopefully we can keep up this momentum.

Ok, we've learnt that Northamptonshire can't defend huge totals. Mitchell's innings was nearly as good as AB's in my match :p

Mitchell tweaked my match up against Northamptonshire, he scored like 28 off 30 on very aggressive IIRC.

haha, it's funny now that they've changed f**k to cricket so now it says cricketed which doesn't make much sense.

Comments:

Bloody hell, our bowlers are ████. This is what we do without Flowers. I brought Vettori in for his extra batting but he hasn't had to bat the whole T20 tournament. AB has been in lethal form though with his second century in 2 games and now has scores of 55, 66*, 101* and 111 in his 4 matches. Bowling is nothing to talk about though. Stafford was again the pick of the bowlers as he was the only one going at less than 9 an over, bowling 3 overs for 24 runs.

No BS this time Nottinghamshire!

They needed four to win off the last over, after three singles when the scores were tied I brought the field up, Swann was facing Davies:

Fourth ball - LBW appeal, not out
Fifth ball - LBW appeal, not out
Sixth ball - LBW appeal, OUT!

We're on the board mothercricketers, all be it only with a tie.

Yorkshire win by 7 runs

A close match that we could have won but the RRR got too far ahead of us and we couldn't catch up. I think this shows that we are better at chasing though, as we have scored quite well batting second in these last two matches. Komasaru was the best of the bowlers as usual, while the rest were pretty expensive. We got off to a pretty good start, with Mitchell and O'Brien continuing their good work from the previous match. it wasn't fast enough however, and Solanki slowed us down. Aimson made a good effort at the end but it wasn't enough for us to win. We are now back on the bottom of the table

Worcestershire win by 9 wickets

For once this season, it was me doing the owning, rather than being owned. Nottinghamshire got off to a very slow start, with Ireland and Rankin bowling tight lines which didn't allow the Nottinghamshire batsman any room to hit the ball. Richardson was a bit wayward, but Komasaru was his usual economical self. Patel targeted Mitchell when he came on to bowl and was able to take a decent amount of runs of the last few overes, but 152 was still only a par score. The opening partnership of Mitchell and O'Brien has been awesome this season however. Mitchell continued his consistent run of form with a 39 ball 50, while O'Brien smacked 90 off only 53 balls to take us to victory with plenty of time remaining. We are now 6th on the table :D That match was a bit nerve wracking though because half way through the second innings the game froze for a minute, but thankfully it unfroze and I was able to storm to victory! :)

What aggression do you guys start you're opening batsmen on?

----------

IIRC this is the first time Hedger's been behind this season. :p

I just leave it as it is. If someone gets out I move the new batsman down one.

Moeen Ali (70 off 44 balls)

Points:

Comments:

Moeen Ali made Nottinghamshire pay. After being dropped in the first over of our innings on 1, he then smashed 9 fours and a six on his way to a 44 ball 70 as we won comfortably always in control, with de Villiers in lethal touch again with 66* off 44 balls although at one stage looked like getting a century but got none of the strike in the back part of the innings, on 45 with 95 runs to win. Our bowling wasn't very good apart from Arif and Flowers who prevented them from scoring over 200.
