Result:

Essex win by 32 runs

MOTM:

Ramnaresh Sarwan (74 not out off 41 balls)

Reaction:

Meh, it just wasn't meant to be.

We gave it a good shot, but when you end up 32 runs short batting on maximum aggression for the whole innings, you realize that you don't deserve to win when your bowlers preform that badly.

Davies choose the worst match possible to tune out his worst performance of the season, going for 46 runs off his four overs.

Comments:

What a win! I thought we had no chance. They raced away at the start of their innings scoring 70 runs in the first 6 overs but some great middle over bowling from Arif and Flowers pegged them back. Daryl Mitchell did an outstanding job late in the game, bowling 4 overs for 24 runs as they managed 178. We also got off to a great start, scoring 29 runs off the first 2 overs and 88 runs in the first 8 overs. Only 30 runs came off the next 5 overs though as Mitchell started to slow down. It got worse though when we lost 2 wickets in the 16th over, as we needed 42 runs off the final 4 overs. Stafford came out and started firing though early and scored 29 runs off the next 2 overs as we only needed 12 runs to win. We had a poor over next though as we only scored 4, giving us 8 to win off the last over. It started off badly with Mitchell playing and missing at the first 2 balls. But then he got an inside edge for 4 and we needed 4 runs off 3 balls. We scored 2 singles off the next 2 balls to now need 2 runs to win off the last ball. Mitchell on strike. It was a good length delivery but Mitchell pulled it away hard and it bisected the gap in the outfield and went away for four, as we won a terrific match. Could this be our year?

Comments:

What a win!!! I had a little over one and a half sessions to chase down 290, and I decided to risk it. We quickly fell to 4/36 but I decided to continue going for it as Norris and Kervezee then put on a 75 run partnership, Kervezee at one stage 36* off 18 balls. Norris then continued onwards with Adler before he went for 59 but Adler's sublime knocked continue in a 84 run partnership with Flowers who also scored a quick 40 even though I just wanted him to stay in. Arif then came in and hit 29 off 23 balls while Adler finished 93* as we won by 3 wickets, scoring those 290 runs in only 43.2 overs. Adler in his last 4 FC innings has scored 93*, 104, 0 and 168*. Is an English callup coming for him? Prior is still only 29 years old but he might be taken over Adler soon enough.

Anyway, earlier in the match, we failed in their first innings, Flowers and Pears taking all the wickets. Only Pears and Rankin went at less than 4 an over in that innings. In our first innings, Moore and Mitchell got us off to a solid start but once Moore got out, Norris, Stafford and Ali got out cheaply. Kervezee contributed well though with 40, his last 3 FC scores in the 40's. Adler and Mitchell just went on with it though, Mitchell scoring a great double century while Adler made a nice hundred as well. The bottom order failed though. In their second innings, only really Pears bowled well, taking 4/73 but other than that, noone really bowled well. Pears now has 12 FC wickets @ 22.67, 2 OD wickets @ 22.5 and 12 T20 wickets @ 14.33.

How far behind am I at the moment? Going to the zoo soon lol

A couple of matches or so :p

I mainly posted my match cause I don't get that much time during the week and a bit of a reminder for you to post your matches.

Well since I didn't get through to the QFs it can't be too far. I'll try and do some tonight but I might be watching the NZ game...

Worcestershire win by 8 runs

A game that was much too close for comfort. We were playing the Unicorns, normally the easy win, but they fought right to the end. Batting first, we started slowly, with Mitchell and Aimson going pretty slowly. Ali and O'Brien played quick knocks but were out too early for us to reach any sort of decent score. In the end it proved just enough thanks to good bowling from Ireland and Komasaru. The rest of the bowlers were completely terrible and expensive. That was our first victory of the OD tournament, but we still lie in last place.

Haha, nearly lost. Now you're only a match or 2 behind.

Let's see.

FC matches:

Brendon - 12 matches
Callum - 11 matches
Jono - 11 matches

OD matches:

Brendon - 6 matches
Callum - 6 matches
Jono - 7 matches

Ok, so you're pretty much on par with me. So really Callum is one game behind.

Nah I'm one FC match behind you - I've got one on the 29th.

Jono has always been one OD match behind us, because of the scheduling. So ignoring that, me and Jono are one FC match behind you.

Yeah, but he played an extra one before the T20's, so we decided just to not worry about that, and we'll catch it up whenever we do.
