Champions League Twenty20 2011

You say Rugby is greater the CLT20 and many New Zealand people might have thought that so why not add one more Indian team where Indians watch more?:rolleyes

Why don't you just a run a second IPL each year, because India are the only country in the world who take this Champion's League seriously.

I'm not going to quote the rest of your post because most of it is crap, but I'm obviously disappointing that Auckland lost both their matches by two runs and off the last ball respectively, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. Yes it is probably sour grapes on my part because they didn't qualify, but I have been saying all along that the tournament format is rubbish, so I'm not just saying that because Auckland didn't qualify.

We are not asking you to rate a rugby tournament and CL T20. First you are so excited about your team beating every other team but when your team does not even qualify for main league than you start stating ???? like this? That rugby is better than CL T20? If you like to watch cricket than watch it, if you don;t than go watch rugby.

In New Zealand we're allowed to watch two sports, in India does the government only allow you to watch cricket?

The Rugby World Cup is the pinnacle of my country's national game, and I'd watch it ahead of any cricket match in the world. I still enjoying watching cricket though, it's just that I prefer to watch Rugby, especially the pinnacle of the sport compared to this Champion's League that only a couple of men and their dogs have heard of here in New Zealand.

Like I said above; "Yes it is probably sour grapes on my part because they didn't qualify, but I have been saying all along that the tournament format is rubbish, so I'm not just saying that because Auckland didn't qualify."

Teamindia, your post was a fail. Do you understand that cricket should not be business? Your talk is of making cricket an organised sport, and that is no use.

It's quite sad really because the first year this tournament was so successful, or maybe that was just because the indian teams did bad?? :p

I always use 'us' for the teams I support, and I don't really care as to how the others interpret that.

I'm a Somerset fan for the record, and we've qualified in some style. And I still maintain the fact that the Rugby WC >>>>> CLT20, quality wise. F-ed up much?

Somerset 2-0 IPL sides (Deccan Chargers 2009, KKR 2011)

That's quality for you. Quality > Quantity ($$$ IPL sides)

So I am pretty sure you have not read my last post carefully. As I said this is a cricket forum, don't wanna know any quality or quantity of rugby in this forum. I wrote the same thing in my last post that I don't wanna know about rugby and only want to discuss about cricket. Now I can clearly see who is F-ed up eh?

Somerset beat Kolkata( 4th rank IPL team) The real competition starts now. So lets see what they can do against RCB and CSK

BCCI is full of mockeries and now once more. MUmbai Indian allowed to field 5 foreign players. Wtf !! I have never heard, where a rule gets compromised. Hahaha ................. IPL a joke, BCCI a bully and ICC above all .............. PUPPET !!

@avroneel Read the full news on cricinfo before overreacting . Mumbai have a squad of 23 which they announced before the Champions league. Now 8 of their players are injured. And thus their depleted side has 7 Indians and 7 Foreign players. Now if even one of their player gets a niggle or injury they would be out of Indian Players. Thus they have been allowed 5 foreign players. Its not as if they have been allowed to field all of foreign players.:p

The one fit but missing foreign player is Moses Henriques who is playing for NSW.

Just saw the article again.. .You posted there too:p

Don't the IPL sides have 21 locals each, to choose from their initial 30 man roster? Is it anywhere near impossible to name 4-5 'local' replacements in that case?

This is just stupid. Why allow 5 foreign players? Just choose someone form Mumbai team and bring them in as replacement.

Why are we even allowing 4 players to play in an Indian domestic team? There should be just local Indian talent in the team. IPL does include 4 international players in a team but we don't want the same in CL T20. Lets just play with only Indian players. That way they can also get some experience against these foreign teams.

I must say, that's a truly pathetic justification. If you're going to circumvent a rule, you would allow an extra Indian player to join and play for them. Secondly, as they have 7 Indians, obviously the fifth foreign should be twelfth man!

Avroneel (who is only one of the many critics on here of this blatant corruption of this already corrupt competition) is entirely justified, whereas your even claiming to have a counterargument is truly ludicrous.

It's 7 pm here in Bangalore and luckily no signs of rain....Was a sunny day with a bit of humidity...Go RCB go....:cheers

Why didnt the Mumbai Indias just loan a player or pick one from draft one in form their original 30 rather than this farcical rule?

The fact of the matter is, the Champions League was made on the basis of good intentions, yes it was also based on making the big bucks but the fundamental idea of it was to bring the best T20 teams from each country onto one stage to play in a tournament. Twenty20 is the only format this sort of competition would work in and in all honest is a great idea, but it will only serve to be a farce until the ICC takes over running the competition from the BCCI.

Having 4 teams from one country in a 10 team tournament is a complete an utter joke. Letting one team field 5 overseas players in a team with tag line 'Indians' is a complete farce. Having the tournament run by a country's domestic body rather than a governing body is a farce.

If the ICC wants to carry on this tournament it need to get hold of it from the BCCI and run it themselves to make the whole thing fair. Rather than having 4 teams from one league. There are only 9 teams in the IPL (after one was kicked out) and 4 have made it to the Champions League. If we were to take the same ratio in the English Domestic T20 which has 18 sides, doesn't that mean we should have at least 9 teams in the competition?

A great concept but with no credibility to make it interesting or fair.
