How on earth does the country that invented T20 not get an automatic qualifier? And don't get me started on not having each country represented. This tournament has lost a lot of my respect after such a promising start, a bit like the Big Bash.
ya this is really horrible to see 4 indian team and the winner of nz,eng,wi and sl have to play a qualifier match after all the tournament name is champions league .instead of this they should have made the CLT20 2 format were 12 teams were participating it 3 from india ,2 each form sa,aus and eng and 1 each teams from nz,sl and wi
This time, Australia may host this event... Not sure.
Fantastic BCCI , just fantastic , 4 possible Indian teams in a 10 team tournament ! Just give the trophy to an IPL side already !

Can injustice get any better than what you're seeing now?
This is stupid. Why should we have to participate in a qualifying tournament when there are three Indian teams in the tournament.
Haarithan;2122966 [/COLOR said:England has 18 teams in its t20 tournament , but has only 1 representative , while the IPL has 10 teams featuring but allows 4 to compete in the CLt20? Can you explain that part of injustice to me?
I wouldn't be surprised if the BCCI made it a 16 team tournament next season with all 10 ten IPL teams qualifying (maybe the bottom two sides via qualifiers ).
I think its being done on the request of broadcasters who are demanding better teams to participate and given that IPL teams play more overseas players + the domestic players are also quite well known so it would attract more audience.
But to call it a champions league without teams from 2-3 other nations is stupid. I hope this idea is scrapped.
I love how no Pakistani team will be in attendance, in either the actual tournament itself, nor the qualifier.
Hmm? 4 IPL teams, yet no Pakistani.
Blatant discrimination.
This is however meant to be a Champions League, which is meant to be a serious event, not some pajama party run by the BCCI like the IPL is.
Firstly the ICC need to grow a pair and say that the home players are going to play for their home country, none of this ████ that happened with CD last year where the only reason they got their (Taylor) wasn't even playing. (It also didn't help that their two best bowlers Napier and Oram were injured)
It is a serious "private" event. CSA, AUS and BCCI want to make money. The tournament needs to first get popular before it can be a truly Champions league. ICC had a champions tournament and no one really cared about that. It is vital that this does not happen to this.
ICC does not make Champions league decisions. Also IPL teams compensate local teams. I think this system is better. If IPL does not compensate teams and if players had liberty to play for any team, I am confident players would choose IPL for money.
That's crap. It doesn't matter if it's run by CSA, AUS, and BCCI, the ICC sanction it so it has to be performed in an official way. My whole point is the ICC should make the Champions League decisions, because atm why do you even call it a Champions League when you have a team finishing 4th out of ten teams there. The ICL was also a "private" event, but the ICC didn't sanction it, so they could do whatever they wanted, but this is meant to be an official tournament which they have made a gap in the international cricket calender for it for the next eight years, so the ICC should take control.

And the IPL/BCCI don't give a crap about the local teams, Central Districts still haven't been paid since the last Champions League.
The problem is Indian audience do not get interested when two non-indian teams meet, especially when they play bad cricket (Wayamba vs CD).
What do you expect from a team who's best player and really the only reason they managed to get gets poached by his IPL side, while on top of that their two best bowlers are out injured?
Since when does inventing a sport guarantee a spot? How on earth does the country that invented T20 not get an automatic qualifier?
I''m expecting Australia to be the hosts, but I hope that it's India again.
This time, Australia may host this event... Not sure.
Australia wont be hosting it, the weather isn't suitable for play at that time.... unless all matches are played at perth or something.
This time Champions League will be played in India and the final will be at Chennai.
Ross taylor in CL
DNB, 46 (not a match winning innings), 9, 4 (in semi final)
You did not miss much
In any case losing 1 batsman does not justify this. Even if ross had scored 46+9+4, they would have still lost
19th Match, Group A: Central Districts v Wayamba at Port Elizabeth, Sep 22, 2010 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo
Let us hope they put a better fight this year. That is what everyone wants
You seem to have conveniently left out that they also lost in the LAST OVER twice as well. It definitely would have made a massive difference if Ross was playing for CD. I'd say the loss of their two best bowlers Oram and Napier was slightly bigger than the loss of Taylor though, because except Mason none of their bowlers had any international experience, and most of them had only made their debuts that season or the one before.
