Champions League Twenty20 2011

I don't get the idea of having a qualifying tournament and then ruling out 3 teams before the 'real' tournament starts. If they are going to the trouble of organising said tournament, why not just include those teams in the real thing? Making it a 12 team tournament wouldn't be difficult. 3 IPL, 2 SA, 2 Aus, 1 from Eng, NZ, Pak, SL, WI. There's your tournament. Make it 3 groups of 4, or 2 groups of 6 if you want it a little longer. Your BCCI, CSA and CA stakeholders are happy getting an extra team. 25% of the teams are Indian for the viewers, and you have a proper event.

To get rid of weak teams. Initially the broadcasters want more Indian teams. I guess once it gains popularity this will reduce. The article from Chewie has some good details.

Without a shadow of doubt, KKR will be the fourth IPL team in this tourney.

I'm really just hoping Nottinghamshire, Hampshire, and Sussex don't get into the English T20 final, because if they don't we should be able to be very competitive.

He counted as a domestic player for us last season, but as far as I know his English team will take preference if there's a clash, like what happened last time with Ross Taylor for CD and RCB.

Why so? If some of these players are playing county they still can play for NZ. Only IPL players have problem.

He was referring to Jimmy Adams (England & Hampshire), Andre Adams (ex-New Zealand, now Ireland(?) & Nottinghamshire). Lou Vincent's situation sounds strange to me though.

Andre Adams plays under a Welsh passport, that's Hamish Marshall who's now eligible to play for Ireland.

I will be watching all the Auckland Aces match at Hyderabad! Waiting for the action start :)

Gareth Hopkins form is bad last season and even Lou Vincent is not good either in the county championship!

fingers crossed at Auckland Aces

They were both outstanding in our 50 over competition, but were definitely below par in the HRV Cup (our 20 over competition).

Even me!
Kolkata Knight Riders v Auckland Aces on September 19th.
Although, I'll be supporting KR though:yes.

That would be great if we can meet up at the stadium! me supporting Auckland Aces and you KKR :cheers lol

On paper we look stronger than SA, T&T, and Ruhuna. Hopefully the players can put it together on the field. If it wasn't for Watson I'd say we also look stronger than NSW.

This is a pretty handy looking XI:

Jimmy Adams
Martin Guptill
Rob Quiney
Lou Vincent
Gareth Hopkins
Colin de Grandhomme/Colin Munro/Anaru Kitchen
Kyle Mills
Andre Adams
Daryl Tuffey
Roneel Hira/Bruce Martin
Chris Martin/Michael Bates
