IPL Chennai Super Kings

Out: Joginder Sharma, Parthiv Patel, Jacob Oram, Thilan Thushara
In: Murali Vijay, Arun Karthik, Ablie Morkel, Muttiah Muralitharan

I hope.

Oram out for Morkel is a great idea, and as if you wouldn't play Murali, they should put him back in.

They were clearly missing a spinner and they seem to play quite the role in SA. Oram's bowling was handy but his batting hasn't been great of late and the need for a spinner rules him out until Freddy leaves.

Yes... That was a shocker to me! Morkel is in good form and that too in his home conditions, its terrible to have dropped him.

I think, Morkel was not selected because, they just had a ODI game the day before. Within 24 hours playing an another game is a high ask for any player.

Not a problem. What happened to Murali? Why was Joginder Sharma in cricket still? He is a hopeless cricketer. Also selecting Parthiv Patel is also a utter waste. What did he do in previous IPL? These guys never learn from the mistakes they did.
  1. ML Hayden
  2. Badrinath
  3. Bailey
  4. Raina
  5. A Flintoff
  6. MS Dhoni
  7. JDP Oram
  8. Morkel
  9. Gony
  10. Murali
  11. Ntini

This is what I like to see. :D :p

MS Dhoni is a hack. Give Hayden the captaincy.
Ya, Dhoni is useless captain.. Thats why he has won Aussies in Aussie land in CB series.. Won the T20 cup in SA.. made Aussies clueless in India. What a useless captain, India has! just nonsense!!!!

I rate Dhoni as the second best captain next to Smith and India's best captain! Some people are crazy enough to blabber something.

It worked two times in a row (against Australia and against Pakistan). That kills the 9/10 argument. T20 is a gamble. You always dont need the bowlers to fire in when its pressure. Joginder was an unknown quantity that time and Dhoni brought him on as a surprise element and he worked. Now criticising him for that decision even after it worked is foolishness.

Right now, Dhoni is doing a better job than most of the current captains in the world and is getting all the results for his side. So he is the best captain right now (I did not say that he is the best captain of all time).
No, that's just stupid. Dhoni didn't do it two times? When Sharma came onto bowl against Australia in the Semi-Final, we were in dire straits. It was Harbhajan & Sreesanth that won you that game of not, not Sharma and it only worked in the Twenty20 Final because Misbah-ul-Haq played and even stupider shot. Dhoni lets the game drift aswell when it's in the opposition's favour. I'm not criticising him, but it's his made incredibly poor decisions at crucial times and luckily for him they have come off.

Lol that lineup has 7 foreign players.LMAO:rtfl

Dhoni isn't the best captain in the world.

Tell me, how smart was it to bowl Joginder Sharma in the deciding over of the Twenty20 World Cup? It was a miracle that India won that World Cup after such a poor and blindsided decision to bowl that trundler at such a criticial time in the tournament. 9/10 it would've backfired on him.

You tell me first, what other bowler would have bowled that last over? There was no better choice rather than going with Joginder Sharma. Dhoni made a clear explanation for this bowling option in presentation ceremony. Because the same question was asked by the one of the experts to Dhoni during presentation. Dhoni can't bring the bowler jumping from cloud

When you see and speak with just the scorecard in Cricinfo, this only happens! Those stats and figure will tell you nothing. If you had missed and you bother to know what happened, know it from the people here rather than coming to conclusions blindly. Otherwise don't just bother to post also about those things under assumptions or blind conclusions.

Ya Chennai SuperKings has to have World XI :D Thats why i said, " Like to see " because it's not going to happen :( I know it's too much craziness but yesterday after watching Joginder and Parthiv in IPLs, I don't think that craziness is wrong. :p

Also why guys like Fleming came to coaching?

I completely lost track of it when these things happened. I thought guys like Fleming and Pollock would be playing. But when commentator interviewed Hayden, " what do you think about Stephen? ", I was taken by surprise.

Arun Karthick was brilliant with both bat and ball in the 2 warmup games. And Albie is in great form too.Murali and Vijay coming into the side too will have some positive effects. If we make those changes,we're definitely gonna win the next game.Sack that Joginder.I dont want to see him play cricket even in streets.

Definitely NO Joginder.. But having Parthiv is also of no use. We need a quality spinner. Murali should definitely be in.

I feel, Flintoff will sit out in next match because of that ice pack treatment yesterday giving room to Albie. :p

Boo. They lost to Mumbai and now they are going to lose to Banglaore :p

Mumbai is definitely not a bad team! Even in last IPL series, they had a many close contests loosing the game in end. So, underestimating Mumbai is indeed a big mistake :p

And, the way Sachin batted yesterday, I felt initially that why should he come to this format if it is not suiting him. But after seeing how both the matches went, I realized that I was wrong. Sachin was simply brilliant! :hpraise

From what I can recall, Dhoni had a few choices he could've made over Joginder Sharma to bowl that last over. You really are a muppet, I saw the match, I'm not going off scorecards. Grow up and stop telling people to watch cricket, because they obviously are. I remember another Indian owning you in another thread for criticising people for "using scorecards and not watching cricket", so it's not just my opinion. So just STOP.

Dhoni tried to bowl his best bowlers and make the required run rate very high so that the bowler who bowled the last over can bowl without pressure. The plan did'nt work like he wanted it to work but it did work in a different way and won us the match.

Are you alright? When did I ask you to watch cricket now? You really had no proper answer for my question about Dhoni and hence once again blabbered something on me.. :laugh You know, I have too much patience level to listen to you and still typing reply quoting your message and which many members have given up I know.

Also you said you are aware of the match happenings but still you come and conclude the wrong things? FYI, Dhoni asked Harbhajan to bowl but he(Harbhajan) replied him back that he was not having confidence with himself. When such a specialist bowler denying him with low confidence level, I don't think any captains would have done better than what Dhoni did. Dhoni said to Joginder, " You do have plenty of T20 experience and it's your court, do whatever you want! ". ( All these are made none other than Dhoni during presentation ceremony! )

You are wrong, Dhoni had no bowling option left when the quality spinner himself have denied.

You call this a horrible captaincy? Silly and stupid enough statement :laugh If you are aware of the match happenings like what you say, definitely you wouldn't have come to such a no-sense conclusion. Since you came to such a conclusion, I thought that as usual, "Mr.Ben's cric-info belief is getting displayed! " Not my fault, when you make up 101 stats comparisons, it's not at all a surprise for me to think that you are comparing the captaincy also with same cric info stats.

Anyways back to the topic, I read in cric info,

Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan, Srikkanth Anirudha, Suresh Kumar, Abhinav Mukund and Napoleon Einstein have been trimmed from Chennai's 28-man squad.

Cricinfo - Chennai Super Kings trim squad by five

Well, Wasn't Vidyut a performer in last IPL? I always had a good opinion on him. If I am right, he is becoming or became an allrounder right?

surendar added 46 Minutes and 56 Seconds later...

Also, If we observe from the three matches,

Mumbai team : Harbhajan and Jayasuriya were simply brilliant and checked the flow of runs for Chennai team.

Rajasthan Royals : Shane Warne had an impressive figures of taking 2 wickets.

Bangalore RC : Anil Kumble played a match winning role in taking 5 wickets.

Delhi DD : In Vettori 's spell we saw 4 wickets including 1 run out.

This tournament have started as a dream run for the spinners. Shame that we had no Murali :(

Chill out guys.

The best XI:

Murali Vijay
Matthew Hayden (o)
Subramanium Badrinath
MS Dhoni
Andrew Flintoff (o)
Albie Morkel (o)
Arun Karthik
Manpreet Gony
Sudeep Tyagi
Muralitharan (o)
L Balaji/R Ashwin

Pretty much perfect ;)
