There were some concerns over Sunday's game, with a couple of tired trainees, I wasn't quite sure if not resting bowlers would be indulgent.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Holloway and Sephake piled on 124 for the second wicket. All seemed good, until those concerns came to realisation. Once those two batsmen were gone, the final seven wickets tumbled for just seven runs.
Fighting Mongooses 178 (42.2)
Sephake 68 (73)
Holloway 60 (92)
Killen 3/39 (8.2)
Would it be enough? Good thing we didn't rest those bowlers. The first six overs were a little tense, as Figjam mounted a platform, but two wickets in quick succession set them back to start over. However, the run rate blossomed again. At this rate, the game wouldn't last long. Two more wickets pegged them back, but after 20 overs, they were 4/100. Then another wicket came, but with Hickes rocketing through the 40s, who was closer to the end?
Finally, the moment came. Wharrad returned for his second spell and instantly dismissed Hickes for 48. The runs stopped coming and even though they only needed a couple per over, time was the issue. They just weren't going to bat for long enough.
Figjam 146 (36.4)
Hickes 48 (43)
Townley 4/36 (10.0)
