Commonwealth Bank Series Feb-Mar 2011/12

Games like that are very bad for 50-over cricket. Of course it's great when a 300-plus score is chased down, but not in 36.4 overs. By my estimate, India were on track for 429...

Did Sri Lanka bowl that badly? Well, to Raina they did - everything was leg-stump half-volleys. In general, however, they are not an Associate-level attack.

I don't know what to say. It was either the pitch, or the script, that was at fault. It must never happen again.

When nothing goes right, blame it on the script eh? Rather then appreciating how well India played people will try to find how can they play so good?

And when they can't find any reason ummmm how about the SCRIPT? It will surely work.

No...never do that. Never ever mention how well Indians batted rather go for the pitch or how bad the opposition bowled. Tired of this pure bull crap statements.

As if question won't be asked. How in the world does India score twices as much as it's last game?

Malinga going for 96 runs? It doesn't make sense.

Script is a better and more polished word used for putting it down to "match fixing". So typical to put down India's performances.

I have a feeling that if persisted with the youngsters, we can reprise these types of performances (not exactly of this nature, but of a similar highly positive nature) even on more challenging tracks. Pick the right guys and give them proper exposure. Ease out the old and the slow guys. We can definitely do it on more tougher tracks (like the ones in Brisbane, Melbourne, Durban, etc)

Get a life dude. Why not openly say it was fixed??

First BCCI buys CA to make sure they crush them badly. Then they buy SL to make sure they tie a game, win one and lose one horribly. Then they pay CA again to make sure they get a flat wicket. Then they pay Dilshan to score exactly 160. Then they pay Sachin to lose his wicket. Then pay Jayawardane to make bad decisions. Then pay malinga to bowl badly. They do all this to get into the final of CB series at the end of a tour where they have been embarrased repeatedly.

Even if Rajinikanth plays the lead role, the movie will flop :lol:lol

You know where should "6ry4nj" use the word "scripted"? England whitewashing Pakistan in the ODIs after getting hammered in the TEST series.
Yeah that sounds better.

Yes so am I. Can you even read? I never once criticized India's performance. I am speaking as a neutral and I don't have a problem with the best team winning.

I am referring to the good of the game. If this kind of effortless 400-plus (equivalent) scores happen a couple more times at the highest level, international 50-over cricket really might die.

And where did I say you criticized them? Pointing out how bad they bowled, weird script or how good the pitch us isn't helping how well the Indians batted.
And what on earth are you trying to convey here !? ODI is dying because we chased down 321 in 36.4 overs? Seriously..what is wrong with this guy?

A great win for India, one of the best ODI innings by Kohli, not to forget the contributions by Sachin and Sehwag who gave a blistering start to India which gave enough time to Gambhir and Kohli to get their eye in and play their strokes, Raina's innings was also very crucial, he came in when he didn't have much time to settle down but he did very well.

Can't say what will happen in the next game, I don't think that Australia will try to loose purposely, they will just try and win the match and keep the momentum going, at the most they might just try something new or experiment with the batting order, but they will go for the win.

Regarding Sri Lankan bowling, I would say that they had lost confidence because of constantly getting hammered throughout the innings, that was the reason why they were bowling pretty badly towards the end, the India batsmen were almost playing the game as if it were a t20 at one point of time, the length balls were going for boundaries, which resulted in the SL bowlers going for too many yorkers and slower ones which didn't workout either and made it easier for India. Not using Herath more was a huge error made by Jayawardene, if Herath would have bowled his ten overs before the 40 overs, then it could have got a bit difficult for India. But having said that, its a tough ask to score 320 in 40 overs and the Indian batsmen batted exceptionally well to achieve the target.

From the game yesterday, world teams must have spotted the huge chink in Sri Lanka's lineup. Tame Malinga, and this Sri Lankan attack will crack up rapidly. India has been one team that has played Malinga exceptionally for most of the time. Even during that World Cup final, Dhoni treated Malinga like a piece of football towards the end. They should not try cheeky shots against Malinga (like how Sachin did y'day and gave his wicket). Was surprised to see Sachin of all trying that shot (and more so, Malinga is his IPL mate and must have played him more in the nets).

Sri Lanka's batting has improved since Jaya's captaincy takeover, but their bowling remains completely dependent on Malinga (like how it used to be when Murali was there).

Yesterday due to India's ruthless batting, I think Mahela had a serious effect on his poor brain. :p When asked why he underbowled Herath, the skipper said " they were taking 8-9 runs off him" :rolleyes

Herath 4-0-20-0 :lol :lol :lol
