Cricket Academy Nets Videos/Screenshots

Right!

just had a go on net practice after getting my controller working evetually!.... Have to say it is the best thing that has happend to the cricket fans. I mean it is just beautiful, the animations are flawless and you can play all sort of shots.

1 thing that i have loved throughout my practice was those faint nicks!! wow that was amazing. I hooked on my CPU on my 40 inch telly and it looks awosome.

Ross, Mike, HBK and all others working on this game, superb work and this game is on right track. :thumbs

I'm not sure if this is well known or I'm just seeing a placebo effect, but when playing a defensive shot it seems that half-pressing the trigger puts slightly more weight behind the shot than fully holding it which seems to stop it dead - could be useful to nudge the ball for a quick single.

Edit - Just seen it mentioned in another thread that you can control the power of shots by the amount you press the triggers, nice feature!

Does anyone else get a stupidly enormous thrill when they "thread the needle" with an off drive and it goes through the chair with no deflections? I love that.

And playing a defensive shot and the ball hasn't got off the pitch before it resets for the next delivery, that's my second favourite.

I don't remember how many times I have criticized BigAnt's work or been whining about their updates but this update has shut me up for good. I have to say that this game looks and feels exactly like a cricket game should be. The batting system is really good and very well implemented because its very accurately responsive. The shot animations just send chills down my spine because if they feel that impressive in the net session then imagine how good will it be in the actual gameplay? I would even pay $200 for this game and I am damn serious. I can't wait for the game to release now. Please release it early 2014 :)

Is there a chance that we can get a video on slip catches? I am not saying bring it out right away but I am too excited to see how slip catches will look like because the edges in this game are really really really really good. I purposely try to edge the ball just to have a look at it because they are that good. I just cannot wait to see how good they will look in the actual gameplay especially edging a fast ball to the keeper while playing a cover drive

Really really GREAT job!!! :cheers

Yeah, I noticed that last night. just giving it a little tap forward as well seems to just drop it at your feet, especially off the spin-bowler... might be able to dash-through for a single if there's not many in-close fielders...

It's not perfect every time, but that's the nature of cricket.

That's pretty cool. Will try that out. Maybe i can use it to guide the balls down to fine leg or third man by tapping on it very lightly.

thank you thank you thank you...I've searched high and low for vids on batting. I've misplaced my xbox for pc controller so I'm missing out :(

I watched a few of the vids...was especially interested in the first person view - boy that looks so good...brings back memories of actually batting. Thank you BigAnt.

Yeah, I don't know whether it was a one-off or a glitch, but I just got my feet in position as per usual, then just fractionally pushed the bat-button (whatever the term is) about 1/3 of the way on the controller and it dropped the ball pretty much dead in front of me.

...another time I did the same thing going off the back-foot to a shorter delivery it rolled back and almost hit the stumps.

As discussed, it's a full physics model - you're going to not face nor bowl the same ball twice, every ball will be different.

That's good to read Ross, although hard all at the same time. BA lunch time xmas drinkies??

So basically better than camera phone + vine = video then?

No - obviously a Vine is the ideal way of recording a cricket game, but it's hard to hold the controller and use Vine at the same time. It'd be far easier on a keyboard, then I could play with my elbow.

This is really cool indeed, is this true though? I found timing the ball late made it go further

EDIT: I think this is a bugged animation but when you do a front foot shot directed square he does an animation for a delivery that would be really short despite it pitching a bit full or good length and it misses all the time.

If you keep the left analog held completely backwards i.e towards the keeper and then play a defensive shot by flicking the right controller completely back, ball will roll back more often than not.
