Cricket Academy questions

I think personally the thing that stands out for me is it feel like a game that is made by people who understand the core aspects required in rugby.

Therefore straight away frustration when playing it is minimal as all the basic are covered and work smoothly.

Simple things like allowing your backs to run onto the ball at pace with a flat pass or fire a deeper pass gives you the room for variation and allows you attack the AI defense in different ways.

One thing that I feel is great is the unpredictability which if carried through into the cricket game will be fantastic. Things like miss timing a pass could lead to an unexpected interception and an opposition try when you may have been seemingly dominating the game. This also woks vica versa when your struggling and defending like crazy.

Career mode is solid, with sponsors transfers etc!

With these foundations and the knowledge from pas games... im pretty dam excited!!

one thing i must add is the impact that different shapes and sizes have.... big strong players break through tackles whereas shorter quicker players can jink in and out of tackles! Hopefully in cricket as Ross has said.... the build of players affect the way they play

how much does the player attributes effect the way they play? Is it as distinguishable as it is in Fifa where almost every player feels pretty different.

Quite a few questions here that I will have to leave until later.... as discussed in previous posts, there need to be some surprises left.

Give us a inch and we will take a mile ross:p

Only a quick question ross, does the game have nets ?

Even with all the info released yet, the thing that I am looking forward to most, is the bowling mechanics. As we all know, the New bowling mechanics in this game require you to time the release of the ball to determine the length and line, which by the sound if it, would add a learning curve towards bowling (a decent learning curve is a must for current gen games as it increases the depth in gameplay). No longer would we be bowling the perfect balls all the time by simply choosing where to put the marker. It would now be just like the real game, where you have an idea where you wanna bowl (say a yorker), but if you release the ball late/early it might provide an easy scoring opportunity by landing the ball in an easier length to score off (full toss / half volley). This has got me really excited as not only will it add depth to gameplay, but would (hopefully) also automatically counter the negative tactics used in the previous games, like bowling perfect yorkers outside off with the an offside packed field.

Fingers crossed now that it actually works well :)

I have to say, based on the info released so far, it seems like the game is being developed by people who not only love the game but (more importantly) understand its underlying core mechanics. I just read the post from Wealey88 that the same was the case with their Rugby game, and since that worked well, I am almost certain we are in for a treat in the coming months.

I agree. Infact you can leave all the other details for later when you would be showing the actual footage (you have already given enough info to make us crave for this game). Anyways, with the Cricket Academy beta releasing soon....you have nothing to worry about as our excitement levels would remain sky high :D

A decent bit of gameplay of the rugby game if anyone had missed previous clips.

Gives you an idea of the commentary, presentation and HUD that Big Ant go for!

Also the organisation and flow of the game!

Yeah, it really does give confidence about this game, especially when Ross has mentioned that the game engine is vastly improved upon the RLL2 one and that the editor is much more capable than the RLL2 version. It will be so darn good to see some gameplay in this thing.....couple of things that caught my eye...players on the big screen as they come out and of course the cheerleaders....gimmicks yes, but really good ones! Shows depth, creativity and a bit of humour....

As with many cricket lovers we love our finer details and I love how in this game you can hear the ref talking to the players as you would on Tv. Minor details like the pitch of the whistle for pens and trys are all simple yet such effective additions that give a game a feel authentic feel.

This game is also superb from pitch deterioration and players progressively getting dirtier as they play!

Put this into the pitch for cricket and we could see some really realistic test matches where for once the conditions play a huge part in your decision at the toss!!

Ross will the ball deteriorate aswell in a way that you would notice? Less bounce etc?

Thanks :)!!

The only thing I didnt like in the video was the crowd sounds! It didnt make the match sound exciting. Apart from that, really loved the intros, the gameplay and animations :)!!

Yes, replying to a query about pitch deterioration and assistance from the pitch,

These are expected by everyone including ourselves and will be in the game along with ball wear (but not tampering! :p)

Which should be about right for an exhibition match - I hate the 'every match is a full house' that you've gotten in most cricket games.

Is there hot Spot technology replays?

Good point. If I play an ODI in India I expect a full house of screaming fans, not so much for a Test match (even though they will still cheer every single run). If I play a Test in England I would like to see a full house.

Cricket games also need to get away from the idea that English fans just make polite applause when a boundary is scored or wicket is taken - there would be roars and cheers as if a goal had been scored at a football match.

Ross, i have been following this forum for a long time but this is the first time asking you questions. so here it goes:

1. Will there be custom celebration after 50 or 100 or after taking a wicket? ( Like fifa you enjoy your own celebration by clicking different buttons after scoring goals). This would be awesome

2. Would there be direct throw to run some one out ? if thats the case would we be able to manually control the throw to the stumps?

Thanks for your time :)
