Cricket Heroes - testing & feedback

Oh yes, why does random rain come onto the field. I hit it into the outfield and it starts pouring down and by the time they get it back to the stumps, it stops...

----------

Haddin just hit Paul Harris for 22 runs in an over. I lost a few quick wickets so I have decided to slog with Haddin as we are now 200/7 with Johnson at the crease. Hauritz made a quickfire 13 off 11 balls before he late cut one straight to backward point.

----------

I ended up making 244 all out so now I'll finally have a bowl.

----------

WTF, I had 4 slips in place and since they were hitting boundaries, I took one out (4th slip) and put him at mid wicket. Next ball, edged straight through a surprisingly vacant 3rd slip and away for 4, I find out I didn't have a mid wicket rather a short mid off and the 3rd slip moved back to a deep gully.

And now I'm trying to edit my field but it won't confirm the changes (I click ok and it changes nothing to my field) so I've decided to quit for the time being.

@hedger_14: I must've forgotten to dial down the rain - if you turn the cloud detail up you should be able to see dark clouds forming before it rains. I need to update the rain anyway - a) it doesn't look right, b) play shouldn't be suspended immediately.

Crud - I keep thinking I managed to fix the field editor. I'm going to take a look again quickly...

A bug you could say.I was running on simulation mode.It asked me to chose the bowler to bowl the next over, but when I selected the same bowler who bowled the previous over, he was accepted. And also how to run simulation throughout?

----------

In slow simulation, it should ask for the bowlers.

Was playing a match, running lights are just for name.It just stays red everytime.Once, when I hit the ball hardly got out of pitch, and I tried to get some fun by running a bit and coming back. The keeper got the ball and released it which went straight to the boundary.lol.Though most of the times the ball hits the stumps. But when it does the bowler doesn't even moves to collect it, he waits for the fielder to pick and in the meantime there's any chance to score a single.Simulation is too slow. When runout occurs, the runs completed before getting aren't counted which should be.Also zioom in the view of run box.I guess Stamina decreases very soon and Confidence(settled) increases even if a batsman faces few deliveries(even he scores no run out of those deliveries), which shouldn't be the thing to happen.

I've finished the Australian domestic team lists with the players, their batting hand and bowling type and I know what type of player they all are.

I might start on the English teams sometime this week or I might just wait until the end to do it. I could probably just get the squad page on cricinfo up and look at the stuff while putting in the teams.

Anyway, you didn't answer one of my questions, should I keep all the oldies in (like Warne, Gilly, Hayden, Pollock etc.) or should I get rid of them all so the database is truly up to date.

And did you want me to include the International players in the domestic squads e.g. Ricky Ponting in Tasmanian Squad. It will be easier if I do that, as I won't forget anyone. And what about T20 overseas players? Should I still include them in the squad.

@hedger_14: Mmm, you can get rid of the old players I think. We can make a separate roster for them at a later stage.

I'm not sure if I'll get around to making the player editor this week - do you have Excel installed? I could make a spreadsheet that can be imported into the game for now instead.

----------

@Meet: You will only be asked to select a new bowler if you're playing management mode. If you change the controls, you should be able to select management mode in the game. I'm going to keep the simulation mode as-is for the time being as most people will just want to use it to automate everything (from bowling to batting).

I *will* fix the bowler not running after the ball though...

@hedger: Cool, I'm putting together a simple spreadsheet quickly - the next update will be able to import this spreadsheet.

@hedger: Yup, that should do the job for now. There's one file that'll need to be edited manually, but I'll handle that (assigning flag icons to the teams).

Also, I think things are still on track for a Friday release (Saturday morning at the latest).

So I can just start on that?

A few (Sorry, I mean a lot) questions?

1) Do you need me to worry about height, as I don't really have that much time on my hand.

2) With swing, does (Off) mean inswing and (Leg) mean outswing or the other way around.

3) With bowler type, do I just write pace or spin?

4) About power, does that have any effect on bowling or just batting with how hard a player hits a ball, in other words, give players like Chris Gayle 150.

5) Fitness, should I just base that on age, let's say 1 for most players under 25, then 0.9 for players between 26 and 29 and then maybe 0.8 for 30-31 year olds, 0.7 for 32-33 year olds, 0.6 for 34-35 year olds and 0.5 for 36+ year olds.

6) What should I do with speed, I have no idea how fast most players can run.

7) The teams are currently a drop down menu, and only Cape Cobras are in that list so what should I do? Just write their domestic team down.

8) There is also no option for nationality.

----------

Never mind about question 7, I just saw the other sheet which had the teams in it.

----------

Never mind about question 3 as well, I just discovered a drop down menu for that as well. Still need the other answers though.

----------

Also another question, for players that don't bowl much, should I just leave their bowling type blank?

Hey hedger,

good questions - I should've explained it when I posted:

1. you don't need to worry about height for now - everyone has the same default height currently

2. apologies - Swing (off) = outswing, Swing (leg) = inswing

4. power only affects batting at the moment

5. that's fine - if it's too much effort, you can just default everyone's fitness to 1 (that's how it is currently)

6. you can leave that as a default too (1.25 should be fine)

8. I completely forgot about that - do you mind adding a column for nationality?

Cheers
Kurt

Ok, I've started to work on it starting with the NSW players.

What should I do for non-bowlers? Do I leave everything blank or set it to the minimum and everything.

And should I just write in the nationality? So in a blank column at the end, put the heading as Nationality and just write in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England etc.

----------

And do I leave swing and seam blank for spinners?

----------

Actually I see you left Philander's spin as just 0 so I'll do that.
