Cricket Leagues - Support and Advice

International tour where this veteran players play for their contury and may not be able to play domestic cricket

Similar idea to injuries which i trialled for a season but if certain players are away for international duty it could leave the teams imbalanced and weakened furthern For example if hussey or watson went away for international duty, then Jo'burg warriors would be devastated losing their two best players.

That's what I was just saying. I know the team looks disparity but that's where the fun starts. Surely these world class players shouldn't be there to play.

As I said, there are mostly senior players in the squad than unexperienced players. Those players are continuous repeated and that really makes it a bit strange.

I still don't know what you mean by this. :p
How does mostly senior players in a squad mean they are continuous repeated? There's still only one Vettori, Taylor etc. in the whole NZPL.

As I said before I'm basing my league on a "Premier League" model like the IPL in RL, which has most of the world class players playing in it, so there's no reason why they shouldn't be there to play.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on the overall issue you're talking about. That's the great thing about the league section though, you can start a league and run it exactly how you want to.

What about a locals round for each league that has more then one countrie in the team, If LMS had a local round then they had to use all their locals in that partciellar round.

No offence, but that would be totally unfair on the NZL franchises. :p My motive is to completely eradicate such 'national team' imbalances and hence why implemented the rule to have only 4-6 locals in the playing XI.

In other leagues like EPL, AfPL, LMS etc,. Vettori and many others players take part. I see those players repeated not only in those leagues I have mentioned above, but the others as well.

I think I get what you're trying to say: The same players are picked in most leagues (eg, Tendulkar, Kallis, Ponting, Vettori etc).

There's a good reason for this. They are picked because they are the best players in the world. You want to pick the best players so your team can win. I understand how leagues can get repetitive because of it but that's what leagues are all about; having fun with great players in your teams. If they were to be restricted, I doubt many people would stick with that idea for very long.

That said, I did run a league that focused on younger players but still I allowed each team to pick two "veteran" players. I wanted a league that gave the managers a challenge and also exposed some younger players but I also wanted to included those players 'cause well who wouldn't want a Tendulkar or Kallis in their team.

Actually thats what I intended when I introduced the grades in GPL. The best can play but the lesser known players can get a chance too.

A quick request to any staff for this section, can I have the first page of posts for the Associate Premier League transferred to me, please? Thanks

Wrong time buddy! All cricket league staff members have been inactive lately, probably due to Christmas and the festive season.

You might ask an Admin though, they have control over every section.

Alright I have decided to call off GPL after the ninth season as I am seeing that the activity and interest level has dropped considerably, or probably I want to try something different, so I want a few suggestions from my current GPL managers as well as other there out on PlanetCricket. Here are some ideas I've got. It might be just too quick to start this, but..

1. Continue with GPL

2. Oceania Premier League: I'll bring the story of "just_cricket" to the leagues.

3. Southern Cricket League (it'll be better than the one I thought initially)

1. Continue with GPL
