DBC14 Modification Discussion

So customisable from USB without any "shenanigans"?

Ok. May pull patches if this is possible to implement. Will decide early next week.

If the patches get pulled what would the delay be?

A wait wouldn't bother me if consoles get updated kits etc

On the flip side - it doesn't sound to me like the sort of thing to add in at the last minute. Something for patch 3 once PC has been the guinea pig?

It depends how they can add it.

If its just like PES then there's no reason not to open it up

I totally agree as the Patch#2 contains the stuff that will make the gameplay balanced and feel good to play...And the time the patch#3 comes people would have created awesome stuffs to use it in the console..:yes

This will make me (even more) popular, but one of the factors in your decision might be: "Can I bear that, in 7 years time, there will be a "DBC 14" forum on here with a more active user-base than the DBC 21 one, some of whom haven't paid a penny since."

AND some of whom still argue that it is a better game.

Yeah. I'm just growing into this Panto villain thing... :)

thing is the modders themselves will always drift to the newer version of the game once it comes and will probably stop / reduce creating new stuff for old versions.
C07 had the following because lack of alternatives.
ex: C05 scene reduced once c07 came.
oblivion scene reduced once skyrim came.

On PC perhaps... Which (historically in Cricket games) accounts for a tiny *tiny* percentage of revenue.
Console is a different story: I'd think very carefully about anything that risked my less core audience not coming back every time.

but modders would be hardcore people jumping to the new version for more features and once they drift to the new version the less core audience are going to stop getting goodies and will have to get the new version if they want to play IPL 27.

that will be the case if you are planning to do only a roster update and a bit of facelift:p in that case sales will be reduced due to that itself not due to mods as this is a sports game as stated before gameplay is king, as long as there is an increment in major areas of the game, people will be getting especially ones who have already been hooked if the selling point of the game is better gameplay and a better experience as it has been with this version.

Also i dont see less core audience modding their game to hilt and if they do they should be hooked in enough to buy the next version.

I would consider a less core audience to be the kind that wouldnt want to shellout frequently for a game whether mods or not, unless they are really interested by the new edition features.

I wouldn't delay/pull gameplay related patch which fixes bugs due to adding content which has no bearing on gameplay. First priority has to be fix bugs and then look at adding additional content.

Delaying a patch which fixes online gameplay issues, cr@ppy AI batting, bowler fatigue/stamina issue, AI's non-sensical field settings etc. just so that folks can play with a new bat (which you can't even see all that much in the game) doesn't make much sense.

Yeah that's true enough on second thoughts

I am basically editing everything in preparation for a new career when patch #2 arrives atm
