Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

I think there will be subtle changes in the bowlers action to indicate his chosen delivery. You may not pick it right every time but that's the beauty of cricket... the surprise!

Yeah that could work out well.....it will bring the much required unpredictability as well in the game where you may think the ball is an off cutter based on 'what you perceived from the bowler's action' but it turns out to be a leg cutter!!

Would also love it if the ball behaved randomly (yet based on some physics) when it pitches on a crack on the 5th day of a test match, not only for spinners, but for fast bowlers as well! Ross already confirmed that the ball behaves like that when it pitches on the rough, but what I am talking about is an off-cutter pitching on the border of a crack and turning into a leg cutter instead! (For those wondering if it is realistic, well it is totally realistic. It is what we call 'the pitch playing tricks' where even the bowler is surprised at times on the behavior of the pitch, i.e. they try to bowl a particular ball but the result is totally opposite of it).

For the first time ever, I think bowling could actually be fun in a cricket game. The attention they have to paid things like Reverse Swing is quite stupendous. I never thought they would go as far as having us shining the bowl to enable reverse swing . We still don't know much about batting by my guess is that the first person view will be there to deal with marker less bowling.

Yeah, variable bounce is a must! Also, new balls have to valuable...

It was Ross' vision to have a game where bowling and fielding is as much fun as batting and that is what we are going to get :)

Like many here I have enjoyed Cricket games of the past but I have always thought that they were mostly along the same theme, lots of markers and mini-games almost like it was some sort of dance-dance-revolution on a joypad. I have always wanted to play a cohesive game with a consistent flow where you felt a part of everything that was going on, that you were a part of a team, and where it is just as much fun to bowl/field as it is to bat.

I guess it's a pretty boring story really, I just like Cricket and am surrounded by friends, family and staff that also love the game. If nothing else we will bring a different perspective and the game will be like nothing you have encountered before.

I should've worded it better but Dutch got it spot on.

It's pretty clear that they are trying to make the game as much 'HUD-less' as possible. It would be a bit trivial if, during batting, we have to pick up the line and length of the ball as we see it (no pitch indicator) but there will be those adorable little highlighted arrows telling us which direction the bowler intends the ball to move! :p
It'll be interesting to see what what mechanics they'll put into place for indicating the direction of the movement of the ball. I wish Ross could drop a hint or two about this.

There will be no arrows anywhere near our game - can't stand them!

Thanks for bringing up that post!!! Had almost forgot that Ross said that :D!! Seeing how they are trying to simulate the game of cricket as closely as possible, I would not be surprised if batting is controlled by the 'sticks' on the controller pad. No wonder Ross said that one would need a controller to play this game on pc and that it would not support the keyboard!

Thankyou 'GREAT' Ross :D!

Yes, you will need both sticks to bat effectively...

One stick for angle of the bat and one for analog power?

If we need both the sticks, how do we select the type of shot? Aerial, ground, defensive?

There is no shot "selection".... the type of shot is based on the shot played, the physics engine will work out where the ball should go.

One stick is for your feet ;)

Hopefully that means back foot/front foot/step across rather than purely moving the batsmen prior to delivery :P

One for direction and the other for shot selection?. If that's the case, then probably left stick for 360 placement and right stick for the batting stroke. So all kind of drives, cuts and flicks gonna be there. When you are using both the analogue sticks, the keys remaining are bumper keys and trigger keys. So defense, advance and running gonna be that keys. I think the batting gonna be more like BLC99.
