Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

Can someone please explain to me the logic of wanting to avoid the follow on? I understand it would arise if you're bowled out for a meagre total, however at this point the opposition bowlers are tired...best time to bat. I remember Aust v India a few years ago who had to follow on...then posted a massive score (VVS you beauty) and Aust lost (was the end of their 16 test wins I think).

ya that game was going to be a draw anyway ENG won by 247 same bowler got kapil out in 2nd innings on 7, i posted it not to show how awesome kapil is, it is about the ritchie benaud , can you imagine any other commentator at the height of detachment when a batsman has slammed 4 sixes in a row and avoided follow on.....

Wow just watched the final over of that Big Bash game and I must have heard the phrase ''bunnings warehouse replay'' about 15 times! Talk about brown nosing the sponsors...

Every time I hear it, I can't help but think that Ponting and Gilchrist have gone to that level.

Some one has called the Big Bash, the KFC advertisement league

It's simply because of the shift to network television. When it was on Fox Sports, just about the only mention of a sponsor was the 'Zing' bails.

Now that it has shifted to Channel 10 (who need every cent they can muster at the moment), they are taking just about every single opportunity available to sell advertising space. It's the price people have to pay for wanting Free-To-Air sport. You're going to be bombarded with advertising.

I'm not a regular watcher of the BBL, I don't want Channel 10 having the satisfaction that I contribute to the ratings. However, I do watch pieces of it which has only occurred lately as my will in not watching it has decreased. I don't like the commercialisation of the format and what it has become.

The only good thing about Channel 10's BBL coverage is Mel McLaughlin and she was covering the A-League before. Wish she stayed with that.

Everytime Mark Waugh says Zing Bails take a swig, you won't be standing by the end of the telecast.

Yep, part of life. You don't get anything for nothing, and I'm willing to ignore a few comments about sponsors every now and again for the sake of being able to watch every game live. It's not that bad.

Like when people complain in Australia about Formula 1 having frequent ads in the free-to-air broadcast - it's a commercial entity FFS and you aren't paying a cent for it.

All take and no understanding from some people. We should almost be happy that the sponsors are getting a good run and frequent publicity as hopefully it means the sponsors stick around and the sport can continue to generate income resulting in it continuing to be televised, attracting better overseas players, good crowds, etc.

Is there going to be interactive wicket keeping like there is fielding because if you're a wicket keeper in you career all you do is bat? ::D

Unless you're one of the 3,500 homes in Australia that is the source of the ratings data, I wouldn't worry about it.. watch what you want.. :p
