Don Bradman Cricket in the Press

The thought of a bunch of troglodytes performing a modern proxy to panem et circenses makes one vicariously giddy

Any reviewer who comes up with a sentence like this is trying too hard ;) (mind you some younger readers might wonder why he's quoting from the Hunger Games...)

Way too hard.

Mind you, for me, anyone who enjoys Rugby League should try a little harder at everything.

I'm not young, but have seen the hunger games (not read), and I have no idea what he's talking about! That may as well be in another language!

It quite clearly says "whenever possible". And it IS consistent in this regard.

The most important thing I can see here is that you can get 25% off it (in India I think?) through a link on the page.

Yeah, an amazon.in link - pricing works out to be US$45 - which is slightly under the direct Steam cost. Which I suppose means they are subsidising the pricing of the physical copies in India - though given the sales statistics that might just be because they've not sold any.

Yeah: This smells like a retailer discount.
Hard to get ANY sales statistics out of India. There's no body that provides numbers that I know of.

Big Ant internally could probably just look at Steam key activations, so I'd assume their previous <500 figure counts hard copies as well.

Ahh. Yes. Good point. :-)

But We're talking consoles sales too. Those are the really interesting numbers for India because everyone is so in the dark about hardware penetration/sales trends etc.

There must be a few first class+ cricketers who are also keen gamers. Do we know of any who have purchased or played the game and have Big Ant/True Blue approached any of them as a means of promoting it? In today's age of social media I would be surprised and disappointed with the marketing aspect of DB14 if this has not happened.

They might be silenced from talking about it from the board level, they'd have all kinds of social media limitations. Especially Australian and England players.

Retired ones maybe, but even then a bit difficult.

Celebrity endorsements are tricky at the moment: If they are paid to do it, then they have to disclose that, which kind of fouls the play. If they do it genuinely off their own bat (sic) then sometimes people just suspect that they've been paid, haven't disclosed it, and there's a whole hoo-hah about it.
A lot won't touch it with a bargepole.
