A flamboyant stroke-maker, a major complaint of Sarwan's career has been his failure to make the most of his potential. Well, when it came to World Cups, that wasn't an issue.
He was his best at numbers 4 (innings off 42*(36) against Canada and 47*(44) against SL, the latter when WI fell just 6 runs short of SRL's target for 9 wickets lost) and 5 (230 runs @ 76.66 and a SR of 95.31, 2 fifties, HS of 92). Indeed at number 3 he had 145 runs in 5 innings at an average of 29, not quite good enough.
He was the ideal finisher for the WI over the WCs, with innings such as 92 off 75 against an RSA attack of Pollock/Ntini/Nel/Kallis/Hall (which ended in a losing cause), 91* off 90 against BD, and a rapid 32* off 15 against RSA in 1999, coming in at number 7, which propelled WI to a matchwinning 278. Along with the above mentioned innings against Canada and SL.
Sarwan adds some class and oomph to the lower order, and gives my side that ability to score rapidly which it's missing ATM. He also picked up 2 wickets with his legspin and is a useful fielder, so yea
