Emerging Players tournament 2010

Easy win for NZ, their Internationals were the star of the show.
How do you mean, only two of our internationals played any good, they were Arnel and Stewart (and they have only played two internationals each) None of our bowlers went at over 7 an over which was good, especially from the young spinner Beard. Not sure how strong that S.A side is though, I've heard of about half of them.

The South African side has more international matches than the NZ side :sarcasm

Those were the two I were talking about.
Yeah true, they were basically the main ones to make an impact. I thought we had more Internationals in our team for some reason.
The batting relied on two guys though, luckily Brownlie done well, he was impressive last summer.

I was shocked to see Young in the side, hes old as, would have thought NZ would have someone else that could have taken his spot.

Maddinson showed a bit of his talent before getting out, did well with the ball too.

Young's not too old, he's 30. Hopkins is 33 and McGlashan is 31, so of the ones who have played internationals recently he's the youngest.

In up and coming keepers, there's de Boorder, and I don't know any of the others.

Ah that's right you guys are looking at your keepers to backup McCullum. Fair enough for that case, usually I would consider 30 old for this type of tournament.

It's just NZ A. So too, India's squad is more or less India A.

For the most part it is, but players like Dean Brownlie, Hamish Bennett and Nick Beard wouldn't be part of the A team. The rest would be in the squad most likely though.

Well not like there is any rules about who you can and can't send, also benefits us as these youngsters can a chance to play against International players.

Thrilling match between AIS and India, India winning by 2 runs. Pomersbach was killing them and we were cruising until he got out. Faulkner was the other star, boy he was hitting them big early on before settling down.

They had a good crack at the total, but just fell short. Henriques needs to do better than that, but otherwise quite the game. Hopefully Unadkat doesn't get picked for India too soon, because he's doing very well so far in his career and it'd be a shame if they ruined him.

It's a bigger than normal squad, but it's also missing Ingram, Redmond and Flynn. They were first choice players who didn't make it out.

Finally got the scorecard somewhere.

Sikhar Dhawan was instrumental getting a 50, Parthiv was good too, Unadkat is impressive.
Pomerbach played a good knock but wasn't enough. Maddinson was really hitting hard, great that he went early.

I hates it when Rahane fails but surely his tight over was the diffrence.;)

There really isn't any, Auckland have Hopkins who is 33, Northern Districts have McGlashan at 31, Central have Van Wyk and Griggs who are both in their 30's and Canterbury have Young who is 30 also. The only "young" keepers going around the first-class scene at the moment are de Boorder who you mentioned and Joe Austin-Smellie who plays for Wellington, but he has Chris Nevin infront of him :laugh From what I've heard though he's going to replace him this season and should pick up Nevin's contract.

It's pretty weak, a lot of the players are only amutuers who play for provincial teams not the franchises. South Africa A are actually on a tour at the moment so most of the good youngish players are with that team.
