England in India - Oct to Jan 2012/13

I just can't understand why Chawla gets the kind of backing he gets... useless at best.

i was checking out some of the stats for the test series, and was surprised to see Ashwin being the 4th highest run scorer for India, only proceeded by Pujara, Sehwaq and Gambhir respectively.

He has been really consistent with the bat.I don't how India would approach his situation if continues to make good runs and continues to fail at bowling.Place in the team as a batsman maybe ?

From an England perspective three things i gathered from the experimental teams effort.

Hales should be promoted to the odi team to open with Cook. Hales look like he has all the tools to be the dominant attacking odi opener that england have been longing for since Trescothick left. Do that & they don't need to experiment with KP or Bell opening.

Buttler is showing good glimpses of that robust natural hitting ability more regularly on the world stage now, that impressed many on the county circuit for somerset. Big pressure on Kieswetter in the odi set-up, given that Buttler can keep well also.

Not sure why Lumb was recalled to the T20 set-up, nothing special. If they wanted a experienced t20 pro, surely it has to be Owais Shah as i keep saying. :facepalm

Just saw the highlights. I absolutely cannot believe how Bresnan was picked over Meaker in two of those four tests! This guy's the future!! Bresnan ISN'T an all-rounder anymore, and rather just an improved version of Peter Siddle (with the bat)!!

In T20s, stats doesn't matter much but still, for those are stats' fan, England have won just 1 T20I off the last 5 games and India on the other hand have won 4 out of their last 5 outings in the shortest format of the game.

Should have been Buttler ahead of Patel. Especially with so much pace to come. Just hope it doesn't cost us.

Great stuff from Morgan. He and Buttler should be doing this for the next 10 years or so. Stick them somewhere between 4 and 6 in the T20 and ODI teams and watch them win games for us. :D

What a hit by Morgan to seal the game for England.

Was going to, thank god Samit Patel got out.

I have to say. Indian bowling is looking horrendous, leaving out Yuvraj (part timer) the bowling was weak and not to be able to defend 177 is just poor.

He was the start that England needed, thank god he clicked today. Can't afford to see him fail one more time.

It was fielding which lost us the game even if the bowling was atrocious except Yuvraj, we had runs on board but couldn't managed to defend it. Still I didn't expected this match to go this far seeing how well England was batting. But Dinda and Yuvraj almost pulled it off.
