England in India - Oct to Jan 2012/13

Dhoni missed the stumps-game lost. Can't really blame him though.

You're not seriously blaming this for India's lose, right. I would blame the bowling and fielding, and a bit of bad captaincy.

Captaincy was pretty good today imo. But what's the point if bowlers aren't bowling according to field and fielders aren't taking catches.

Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli are India's best feilders, and I don't think they were used that well in the end especially. And a few two that shouldn't have been there were allowed.

Not blaming anyone just pointing out how it could have been. While fielding was pretty poor,do remember there was dew which made things slippery.Captaincy was not an issue today imo.

India's biggest problem was the dew. They had to get through the spinners early because they couldn't risk them bowling later on and bowling a bad ball due to not being able to grip it. I think without that, he'd have been turning to Raina at some point and keeping Ashwin back to bowl at the end, instead of one of the seamers.

Kind of shows aswell how IPL still hasn't produced anything substantial in the bowling department. Both Parvinder Awana and Dinda went for an economy of over 10 and Puyush Chawla is not even that good.

While for Awana it might have been nerves , Chawla is just not good.He keeps coming back for some unknown reason.:facepalm

Agreed. But why are they not giving Rahul Sharma. All through the IPL he preformed so well on Pune Wicket.

He got caught in some drug case(he actually said he'd quit Cricket if he was found positive) not too long ago, haven't heard from him since.

It was expected that he would be dumped after he was tested positive in that drug scandal (with Wayne Parnell, during IPL after parties).

No one seems to have any idea about his whereabouts. Also, I really don't think the IPL is a ground for picking out the best talents. Ideally, one should look at the Ranji Trophy, then the IPL to see who have been consistently topping the charts therein.

If one were to go only by the IPL[which I honestly feel is just a one-match/series performer], one would have the likes of Manpreet Gony, Paul Vahaty and Swapnil Asnodkar representing India. Its not that they don't deserve a chance in the side, but the fact is there have been many standout performers in the Ranji who have not gotten their due.

As for spin-bowling- I have heard a lot about a Jalal Saxena, any idea who he is ? Cause I have never seen him in action.

Apart from the whole drug thing, Rahul Sharma also averages a whopping 51 with the ball in FC cricket. Thank god selectors aren't blindly picking him on IPL performance alone in the test arena.

He's actually an opening batsman for MP. From what I know he is a part time spinner but I think he played at 8 as a bowler for the India A side (I think). Crap selection... that's like playing a guy like Sehwag at 9 as a bowler.

Hmmm, just checked him up on Cricinfo. Decent average. Not bad for a mid-order player. He could very well be in the team as an all-rounder. I'd swap him over Ravinder Jadeja any day.
