Dravid's call misfired. I was surprised...so was everyone, when he decided to field first.

He won't come back anytime soon. I doubt the selectors are even thinking about him now/

Our selectors have no sense at all.
First up they select VRV and make him sit out and then he is dropped.
You may find that we might end up fielding a under-19 squad for the world cup with dravid and tendulkar in. :help
Next Harbhajan's bowling average is now nearly touching a double ton.But still they are persiting with him.

So why this injustice to Agarkar and Ganguly ? :mad

It was indeed good batting from England. But it is their bowling attack which will be most worrying.

And what do you have to say regarding the Indian bowling attack ?

Even though,i'm an Indian fan,i felt English bowling was deifnately better than Indian bowling in the first two tests.

It's worrisome, they have not managed to get a proper test bowling attack. We lack the bowlers who can get wickets.
What happened in Pakistan ?

Pak-6/39 and they win the test from there on.

It's a blessing in disguise for us that the English are not in their full-strength.They are missing the likes of Jones and Harmison.I'm prepared to bet that India would have lost the first two tests in such a scenario.

Harmison didn't really have much of an effect in the first two matches and there was nothing suggesting that he would cause too much trouble in this match, either. Simon Jones--is debatable. His reverse swing would definitely be a bonus, if nothing else.

I disagree that India would have lost the first two tests.

And you seem to be forever discontent. In Pakistan, we had a bowling line-up full of pretenders. It was they who allowed Pakistan to get away from 39/6. We get rid of them, and yet you say, what are we doing? This is an attack that needs some time to get settled in international cricket--they proved to be pretty incisive in the previous game. The problem is not with the bowling but that India are trying to pick wickets on a batting pitch. On a pitch like this, you always choose to win the toss and bat first--and 3-5 wickets is about as much as you are willing to lose on the first day.

Flintoff has been dropped again it seems, I know hes definitely been dropped once just recently in the gully. India sure aren't helping themselve by doing this.

Munaf Patel bowled very well, but no support from the fielders.

India have been shocking in this test match and I dare say, deserve to lose this match .
They really do.
You drop the most dangerous batsman in the world twice in 2 balls, keep dropping catches in the slips and above all showcase their hospitality by allowing the visitors a chance to bat first on a dead track.
But mind you, the track will not look dead when we are faced with a target of 600 .

Dravid has been superb with the bat but has made some shocking decisions and also has been poor in the slips.
England will definitely end up with 600 and India will make a mess of this series ending up with a 1-1 scoreline.

I'm so frustrated and cursing at Rahul Dravid! Why the hell did he elect to bowl first? Stupid decision! Man, I think now England will score above 500 runs. India will have to pay for those too many drop catches. I feel England will win this one and level the series 1-1.

Why on earth did Dravid bat? Was it overcast so he got suckered in or was it just plain pathetic call.

Wow what a fightback by India. 2 quick wickets and England don't look so certain to make the 500 now. Both Flintoff and Collingwood gone.

Good come back! Now India need Shah to be out soon because he's a better player than Jones. Jones can be out any time. Come on India!!!

yea. Jones and Shah can score more runs...Sreesanth and Kumble are the men right now. Pathan is a mere pedestrian with his pace...he seriously has to think about it.

sorry, yea...Jone's gone. Udal is not that bad with the bat, so its important for India to strike early post-lunch.

Udal looks vulnerable to the yorker with his technique and also to the Kumble skidders.

So I`d start with Munaf and Kumble after lunch.

well according to Aprils edition of TWC India haven't won a notable away tour since beating England in 1986.

Irony?

That I agree. But they were losing away tours quite badly long time ago. But the past few years, it has changed and the overseas record has improved quite well. Pakistan on the other hand were thrashed 3-0 in Australia where India last time drew them 1-1 which is a huge achievement.

Oh come on, thats too early to say!

We have snapped up 3 wickets in the first session with the two dangermen Collingwood and Flintoff gone. Also Jones who can bat is gone. Now we have the ability to clean up the rest of the batsmen if we bowl the same way we bowled in Session 1

It has been India's session so far on Day 2. England were expected to score in excess of 450 but now 400 seems quite some distance to reach! Good comeback from India! Very Very Impressive have been Sreesanth and Munaf Patel. Pathan, your days as India's spearhead is being NUMBERED! If you dont up your pace, you will end up as a mere one change bowler. And RP Singh has much better pace than Pathan. Well if Munaf, Sreesanth and RP can join to be a good wicket taking combination along with one spinner, India can well afford to go with a specialist batsman instead of Pathan!

I would continue with Kumble and Sreesanth after lunch! Sreesanth has been superb in this match. He is an intelligent bowler. He has picked up 4 wickets. His aggression is good, uses the crease well.

and it is Munaf who starts off .
He was superb in the first spell and in fact India`s best bowler so far this match .
Very unlucky to get no wickets till now.
He has to stop relying on the Indian slip fielders and get some bowled`s , LBWs and C&Bs !
Sreesanth has bowled well but nothing special . I feel he has been a bit lucky .
Munaf has bowled a special spell of bowling and deserved to get a 5er the way he bowled.
Sometime, it does not work that way !

EDIT :
I told you so !! 2 wickets in 2 balls for Munaf ! We have found a fast bowler with a big heart, guys and with loads of talent !
I just posted a while ago that he will have to get all wickets with bowled and LBW rather than trying to get batsmen out in the slips with the poor standard of Indian slip fielding !
He has listened to my advice !
