Well as this series is over, I'd be inclined to play Hoggy for the next 3 games. Just to see if he can do it in a run of games in ODIs.

Bell for Jones next game is my only change.

which match are you talking abt?

against sa at hyderabad (match 1), it was a green wicket and india lost by 5 wickets. in eden gardens, it was another green top and we all know what happened at eden gardens. smith and hall smashed us! so we are still suspect with our game on a helpful pitch for the bowlers!

i think west indies will have batting wickets. any world cup should have good batting wickets. the organizers always have this notion that ODI cricket is for the batsmen and the batsmen attract the crowds. to make the world cup successful, i am confident they will have batting pitches that are strokefilled. india will do very well on such pitches.

india will be going to the west indies this may for a 5 match ODI series. the world cup is played less than a year from that series. so should be an important one for the indians!

the wicket at mumbai was also providing assitance for seamers in the first half it was a series where the team batting second won all the matches

Guwhati is somewhere in India's north-east tea-hills belt so by that reason England might hope for a green-top lol and Hoggy and Flintoff getting lucky and ripping through India to make sure it isnt a whitewash

A green top will make the match more even because England are used to playing on the green stufff. Hopefully Hoggy, Fred and Jimmy will profit. It might even mean Ali or Mahmood to come in for Batty. Bell in for G. Jones. Prior Keeper

A green top

You're as likely to get a green top in any of the Indian pitches as you're likely to get a dusty turner at Headingley.

I think Roger Federer had a record of winning 23 consecutive finals.. I won't be surprised if we had a similar enviable record :)

Yeah,it will happen with us too.
This record will last for a minimum of 23 series starting from this one.
Meaning,in short, that we will win the World Cup. ;)

Anyone know what the Guwahati (iirc) pitch is like?
The Guwahati pitch...
hmmm,
The last time there was a match here, the team winning the toss elected to bowl first as the match starts early.
So,there is the moisture factor in it.
However, its a very good batting track.
Expect a score of 250-260.

I'm an optimistic person and must believe that the green top happens

At this time of the year with the sun beating down, even a green top won't stay green for longer than half an hour in the morning, at best...

I hope that ENGLAND will try and bat better and even a lot better. They've always made competitive totals but against India we need to do more than that. Also Kp and Freddie are doing fine with 60 and 70 but we need more agressive centuries

434 to 438 need I say more ????????????

Also nobody here mentioned about hte selection of VRV Singh.

Our batting is struggling,we have lost the best batsman that we have (Dravid) and the selectors select a fast bowler. Strange isnt it ??????

What on earth were they thinking ?????? Sehwag made captain wont be dropped and so wouldnt be Kaif.So thats 3 gone ,Yuvraj and Pathan would be rested in one of the matches.

Considering all these Indians would be playing with effectively no one in form (barring Raina).

Good selction but whats the policy that they follow ??

In the ZImbabwe tour they picked an opener (Jadhav) as a replacemnt for middle order bat (Sachin). If that was glaring what is it ????????

ANy comments ??????

its all well and good having a talented team....but does India have the mettle for the pressure situations?

for example a close finish in a semi-final with Australia???

well we have been under pressure many times chasing.. against south africa, against pakistan, etc. but yet we came out successfully.

the team has the basics right, now you just need to throw them more into the world of challenges to see how they perform.

It'll be interesting to see if India wins some finals as well.. they had a terrible record in finals under ganguly. I don't member last time Australia losing a final..except for the final game against SA but that wasnt a tri-series, the loss against Sri Lanka in VB series didnt count as it was a best of 3 and we won 2-1.. and the last English summer Natwest Final was a tie. Can anyone provide me with that stat please..Last Australian loss in a final & also Australia's win-loss record in finals over say last 5-10yrs

I think Roger Federer had a record of winning 23 consecutive finals.. I won't be surprised if we had a similar enviable record :)

yes, our final record under ganguly was pathetic... udner dravid, we have had only one tri series final (against sri lanka in sri lanka when chappell was coach) and we lost that too...

so we will get the opportunity this year to show if we really possess the skill to win multi starrer tournaments!

The wicket in Mumbai was close to a dustbowl. It was providing uneven bounce and the conditions that day provided lot of swing (Pathan!!). Nothing from the pitch though!

Ripping through? Thats too much. I mean we have the batsmen who can survive on such pitches and post a decent respectable score. And so far this series, our bowling has always had England on the mat when England were threatening to run away to big scores or to victories!

This one, I have to agree with our ronny! It was nonsense selecting a fast bowler to replace a top order batsman even though the series is decided! What is RP Singh doing in the squad? Most of the time sitting in the sidelines. They could have replaced him with VRV if they had really wanted VRV!
