Kumble and RP Singh pick up injuries
RP Singh had just the 4 overs before he limped off with a strained calf
muscle. He might be able to bowl on day 3 but is most likely to return to
bowling by day 4. It looks like he will bat, if needed, with a runner during
India's 1st innings. It looks like Ganguly may have to bowl a few overs with
just the 3 fit main bowlers.

Panesar pegs India back, but India still firmly on top
The day started well for India, as Virender Sehwag and Wasim Jaffer brushed
aside the early movement off the pitch and in the air, to set a good platform.
It wasn't until India were on 71 until Monty Panesar proved to be England's
saviour again. Jaffer and Sehwag in particular went after Panesar, but it was
to be their downfall. First it was Jaffer to go. Trying to hit Monty out of the
ground, only to find Liam Plunkett down at long on. Jaffer made 38, and
Sehwag was soon following him on 45. After hitting two almighty sixes off
Panesar, he fell to the part-time spin of skipper Michael Vaughan. Sehwag
came down the track and missed a ball pushed way outside off stump. Prior
was quick to take the ball and whip of the bails with Sehwag miles out of
his crease.
India came out of lunch looking in a defensive mood. Dravid and Karthik looked
settled with the odd one or two, and occasional boundary. The score went
along slowly and it wasn't until just before tea that England got the break
through. Anderson got one to nip back and Karthik on 43 decided to leave.
The ball struck his pad outside off stump, and it looked as if the ball would go
on to miss the off stump. Up went James Anderson and up went Ian Howell's
finger. Karthik couldn't believe his luck, but he had to go.
It wasn't until Panesar came back on after tea, that England started to take
wickets. Dravid was caught leg before by a ball pitching on leg and
straightening. He went for the sweep but the ball careered into his pads.
Next went the little master himself. Looking comfortable on 30 from 46, he
called Ganguly through for a quick single. Anderson was quick to react and
threw down the stumps to get rid of Tendulkar.
Panesar took the final wicket of the day, bowling Sourav Ganguly for 11. A
straight ball which Ganguly charged, looking to play through the off side.
The ball cramped up the Indian batsman and went through the gate and
onto leg stump.
The pair that almost won India the 1st test match came together to see off
to the end of the day, and did so very successfully. India finish the day with
a lead of 32, but will be hoping to push that over 100, after looking like
taking a huge lead at the tea interval. England will need to take the
remaining 4 wickets rather quickly on day 3, if they want to stand a chance
of winning this match.

Sangakkara and Kapugedera demolish Bangladesh
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat on a very dusty wicket
in Colombo. Right from the off the Sri Lankan openers, Tharanga
and Jayasuriya, made use of a dry wicket. It wasn't until
Jayasuriya was caught at deep midwicket for 56 that Bangladesh
got their first breakthrough.
Tharanga joined his partner in the pavilion as he was dismissed
for 77, caught at extra cover by Aftab Ahmed off the bowling of
Abdur Razzak. But the score was still ticking along nicely at
153/2.
Then came the 3rd wicket stand of 153 between Sangakkara and
Kapugedera. Both raced to their half centuries. Bangladesh
finally got the breakthrough when Sangakkara was bowled by
part-time medium pacer Aftab Ahmed for 88.
Shakib Al Hasan stopped Kapugedera from making his 1st ODI century
by bowling him for 86. Mubarak and Dilshan finished off the
innings in style, smashing 32 and 24 respectively.
The task was always going to be too big for Bangladesh but they
didn't ashame themselves with the bat. A fine opening stand of 98
by Javed Omar and Tamim Iqbal illustrated that the Bangladeshi
batsman were no pushovers. Omar and Iqbal both fell to Sanath
Jayasuriya, who claimed figures of 3/57 from 10 overs.
Mushfiqur Rahim made a bright and breezy 51 from 42 balls,
hitting 48 of his runs in four's, before he was dismissed by
Kulasekara. Dilshan chipped in with the wickets of Nafees (14)
and Razzak (4), and Chandana took the solitary wicket of Reza for
15.
Aftab Ahmed hit a steady 36 from 42 as Bangladesh managed to last
the 50 overs, losing 8 wickets. A comfortable win for Sri Lanka
that wrapped up a double tour whitewash over Bangladesh, after
winning the test series 3-0 also.
