Shastri sums up India in a sentence - "India just not good enough"
India grabbed a consolation wicket late on day 3, but this couldn't cover up what was another poor session. India bowled out for just 211 with just Dravid's contribution guiding them past 200. Monty picked up his 5th wicket to top off a brilliant bowling performance from the English attack. Anderson and Tremlett also took a solitary wicket in the evening session. Kumble made 12, Pathan 14 and RP Singh 4 gave little resistance to some accurate bowling from the English bowlers. Khan was left on 3* with England leading by 122 before the openers wandered out in a hostile 25 minute spell. Strauss came out all guns blazing which surprised many including Indian skipper Raul Dravid. Strauss' attack lasted only 17 balls as he had his middle stump uprooted by Pathan on 19. Strauss was dismissed with just the 3 overs left. Cook 7* and Vaughan 8* saw them off until the umpires called play for the day. England in a dominant position heading into day 4...

5 wickets for Monty :happy.England already with a lead of 156 runs with just 1 wicket down and have a chance to win this test match Watch out as Kumble might cause some trouble with his bowling. Great work and nicely presented
India have not performed to their best. With already a big lead, very small hopes for India. They should somehow restrict the target below 300 if they want to be safe.
India have really turned it around after a poor day 3, getting England to 114/7 at lunch. Some brilliant team bowling has really put this game back into the balance. Sachin took 2/29 taking the big wicket of danger man, Kevin Pietersen. Vaughan was the only English batsman to get going, the England captain scoring 43 from just 59 balls. All but 3 of his runs came from boundary fours, which showed that India's fielding had been very tight. First to go was Alistair Cook, who had only 2 to his overnight score, run out thanks to a fantastic direct hit by Rahul Dravid at mid off. Next was Pietersen who immediately looked to attack. But after hitting a four off Tendulkar the ball before he tried to go over the top. Only to play inside-out and place it straight in the hands of RP Singh at deep cover. Collingwood didn't last long either, being RP Singh's only dismissal, for just 3 with the wicket the reversal of Pietersen's. The collapse continued, Ian Bell run out for just 7. Prior only made 9 with 2 fours before Tendulkar got his 2nd wicket of the innings, with Dhoni taking a neat catch behind the stumps. Vaughan's resistance fell just before the end of the session. Pathan got his 2nd with Vaughan edging to Anil Kumble at gully. With England reeling on 114/7, it's been left to the tail to salvage something and give England a lead that would be difficult for India to reach. What a last 5 sessions we have in-store for us here at Lords.

What a comeback by India after being bowled out for just 211. Sachin doing the magic with the bowl. India should bowl them out quickly now and then look for a big lead. Nice update Trev, nice to read and well presented.
Still, England can go near that 300 lead which would be somewhat difficult for India to chase that, considering they(Ind) got just 211 in first innings. Hopefully, India bounce back.
Panesar plays knock of his career - England set 300+
Monty Panesar has played the innings of his career, hitting a well played 38 from 84 balls. Whilst scoring valuable runs he also made India stay out in the field for some time longer than they would've hoped, which will give England some confidence going into the final session on day four. The last wicket partnership between Panesar and Anderson of 46 was much needed for England, in their chances of winning the 1st npower test match. Sidebottom went 1st ball after lunch, Tendulkar grabbing his 3rd wicket with a plumb LBW. Tremlett added only 3 more runs giving Anil Kumble his 1st wicket, hitting one straight to cover where Dinesh Karthik took an easy catch. This left England in a precarious position of 139/9. But Panesar and Anderson dug in and really frustrated all of the Indian bowlers. Monty hit 5 fours on his way to 38, who would've been disappointed to fall short of his 50, hitting a leg glance straight to Wasim Jaffer off RP Singh. Anderson played a valuable knock of 12*, taking up 55 balls on his way. India played just 1 over before the tea break, surviving at 5/0. India still need 312 to win, with 4 sessions to play. It really could go down to the wire...
