England National football team thread

Exactabloodylutely.

When England's cricket team or Rugby team are woeful, they still generally get cheered on and off the pitch. Fans respect the players. When Olympians heroically come in last, they back them for their effort and comittment. Not just usually to their Sport, but being human beings.

It's easy to turn on Footballers, because when they're not playing well for your club team or country... well 99% of the time they're being a cunch of bunts.

Oh jesus ha...you two just have just given this discussion a complete nose dive

He has been playing well since the season started

No he hasn't. He's past it, time to move on. He's lucky to still be playing for Chelsea to be honest as there is no one else adequate enough to fill his position.

Sure he has passed his ultimate best - he is not Terry of the mid 2000s anymore. But to say he has not been playing well since the season started is a tad off IMO.

Last season he was looking quite slow etc may fans (myself included) & journalist were even suggesting it was time Chelsea moved on from him - however its noticeable he has shown shown solid improvement this season to date.

It was only last season when Ferdinand also was playing brilliant (staring vs Ronaldo in the C -League vs Madrid) people were also saying Rio is passed it etc - but eventually Hodgson correctly recalled him before Rio made a decision that his body couldn't handle club & country duties anymore.

So don't rule out a such a situation repeating itself with Terry - because the hardcore fact remains behind ENGs now defensive pair of Jageilka/Cahill - the options behind them if one gets injured b4 or during the world cup doesn't fill one with great confidence (even though they are talented).

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm looking forwards to seeing England more than Utd these days. The way my club has imploded this season beggars belief!

In that case, prepare to be disappointed. :p

don't take that seriously

The World Cup is in just over 5 months, surely if he recovers ahead of schedule, Walcott will make it? The Arsenal medical team certainly doesn't give me any hope though.

There's a good chance his sprinting ability will be affected though, and without that he'll be far from a national quality player, though he is a good finisher.

If he can do a David Beckham 2002 & recover in time, that would be great. But they ruled him out so quick, so i'd presume unless he does that miracle recovery that he won't make it...

Theo's blistering pace is his main attribute; if that's affected by the injury, it'll hurt his effectiveness as a player.

Such a shame. That'd be the the third world cup finals on the trot he's missed out on playing in now.

Went to his first World Cup at 17. Made his debut in the World Cup at 29, if that...

Sickening really.
