Mark Nicholas: Hello and welcome to Lords, for the third day of the 1st npower Test between England and Sri Lanka. England finished day 2 on 304/4, with Fred Fan and Jack Teague left not out at the close of play. I'm here with Geraint Jones to check the pitch again, but first Geraint, how should these two bat today?

Geraint Jones: Well Mark, they have got to start cautiously, we all know how attacking they are, and how capable they are of hitting boundaries. However, they must bed themselves in again before playing any reckless shots and getting themselves out. It won't be easy to start today because there is a lot of cloud cover around, so this ball will be swinging.

Mark Nicholas: Now on to the pitch Geraint; How do you think it will play today?

Geraint Jones: Well it looks the same as day 1, but the cracks have openeed up a lot more and when and if England declare, Lee Payne and Zohaib Ahmed should get some joy out of exploiting those. On the other hand, Murali and the other Sri Lankan spinners can use the cracks and the rough patches to aid turn and maybe even get a bit of uneven bounce.

Mark Nicholas:
Thanks for that Geraint, you can get back to the commentary box now. Well the players are making their way to the middle, so join us after the break where we will bring you live coverage of the third days play here at Lords.

Fan Races To Fifty

Geraint Jones: What a player this guy is; Only 30 minutes of the 3rd day has been played and he has already brought up his fifty.

Dean Jones: You are absolutley right Geraint, he has come out aggressivley today, and he has obviously been told to score quickly so England can declare today, and give the bowlers some time at the end.

The crowd applaud Fan's brilliant knock.

I predicted yesterday that Fred Fan would make a half century and Jack Teague would make a century! So far so good!

Looks like I got a good delivery in the first innings,no worries I'll make up for it no doubt.Nice Presentation,I love that logo. :)

Teague Reaches 50 Too

Mike Haysman: Another England batsman has reached the 50 milestone in this innings, this time it's the turn of all-rounder Jack Teague to rack-up a half century.

Geoffrey Boycott: It's been an uncharacteristic innings from Teague because he has just sat back instead of going all guns blazing. The fact that Fred Fan has been going superb at the other end has allowed Teague to just play sensible.

Murali Gets His Man

Mike Haysman: Well Teague's good innings has come to a premature end, as he was caught at slip by Mahela Jayawardene.

Geoffrey Boycott: Murali has just found some rythym in the last few overs hasn't he? Teague was decived by Murali's quicker ball and he played for turn, but instead the ball went straight on and Mahela Jayawardene took a simple catch at slip.

Teague departs for a well played 56.

Davie Goes Before Lunch

Michael Slater: Chaminda Vaas has struck an important blow for Sri Lanka as he has clean bowled all-rounder Drew Davie before the lunch break.

Mark Nicholas: Yes, it's disapointing from an English perspective because Davie is a promising all-rounder, but as long as Fan is still out there, England can push the lead beyond 200.

Davie's stumps are shattered.
