The Legend is shocked at being dropped.
Says race and being part West Indian played a part
-Reuters
TT Lion's legend Ryan Crouch said he was shocked and stunned at not being selected for the first test against Sri Lanka yesterday at a press conference.
"I am stunned at the decision, especially after the form I've be displaying in club cricket down at West Indies for the Lion's"
Crouch has been averaging over 120 with the bat, and around 15 with the ball in the limited over matches.
"Infact, I think that played a role in me being dropped. The selector has obviously gone for a more English squad, rather than allowing diverse players in. So what that I am West Indian and black? I am willing to give 100% for every team I play for!"
Crouch also offered his thoughts on the rest of the squad. "they are all good blokes," he said. "I don't fault them, it is the selector I am angry with."
The first test is due to start later this day.

Payne shocked by England call up

Cricketer Lee Payne has told the Planet Cricket Times that he was shocked after being told he will open the bowling for England in the first test against Sri Lanka at Lord's tomorrow.

"I was hoping to be in the squad, but it never crossed my mind that I would be an opening bowler. I thought it would take months for me to get my chance in test cricket but I'm ready to grab this early one as hard as I can and never let go. I'm determined to make myself an integral part of the England team." he said.

Payne has been praised for his accuracy and slight swing in the past, something he hopes to bring to the England team tomorrow.

"It will be good to have the new ball in my hands, should we bowl first tomorrow. I can swing it and I force the batsman to put the pace on the ball himself, so it is difficult to hit boundaries off me. Most of the time, a batsman's attempted six hit off me gets caught in the ring." he added.

He has also expressed his loyalty to the new coach, Matthew Roberts.

"He's done everything right for the group so far. He's intelligently thought out his squads and captains and will try as hard as he can to win over the test match. He often tells us how he is a devoted Everton fan. Nobody's perfect I suppose!"

Shortly after that comment Payne went to a church, and despite not being religious, prayed to God that he would not lose his place.

Barrow Retires From The 5 Day Game

Breaking news has leaked from the ECB headquaters where new ODI and 20/20 captain Simon Barrow has retired from the 5 day game.

On the eve of the test series Barrow has been left out of the squad and had a talk with Matt Roberts about retiring.

Barrows highlight in 5 day crickets was his magical display of off and leg spin 5 years ago in 2001, when Barrow took 8/52 against a Australian team which looks mediocure against Englands very own Shane Warne.

Barrow, who has been out of the test side with shoulder injury has issued this statement,

"Due to the overs i would be bowling per day i dont believe my shoulder or ankle will withstand the pressure of so many over, i wish Drewska the very best of luck. Now ive got to look forward to the captaincy of the One day sides which i am very happy to be trusted with."

"many people have come up to me and said why not wait for the Ashes to be over, to see if i get a place, but i know this is the right time to bow out of the game, i believe the England team have better allrounders than myself and i believe ive had my day in the squad!"

Shocking news from a guy who always kept England going at crucial times, now its the job of the new England coach to find a replacement, and who knows, maybe Barrow might just impress more on the OD field rather than the 5 day one.

Thanks for watching this update of CricNews, where surely England have entered a new era of cricketing success under Matt Roberts.

Young Hameed Ahmad gets call up

The young Surry Wicket Keeper Hameed Ahmad was shocked as he was called up for the match against Sri Lanka tomorrow. He has only played 17 matches for surrey and has a high score of 87* his normal posistion is number 5 otr 6 but he has been dropped down to number 8.

He Said. " i am only 22 and thought Pinchy Mc Pinch was going to be called up but thanks to his Injury i get to play. I hope he gets better soon but that i still get to play ahead of him. i know many of the players called up and should be able to get along. I need to hit lots of runs to maintainn my place. The Surrey Manager was delighted and has sacked J Batty cos he wants Hameed To play instead.

Crouch Fined ?5,000 For Improper Conduct

The ECB have reacted angrily to teh recent comments made by Ryan Crouch over the fact that he wasn't selected for the first test against Sri Lanka. The ECB have this today:

"Ryan was not picked because his county performances havn't been consistent enough, and the fact that he thinks racism played a part infuriates us.", "If he wants to regain his place he should concentrate more on playing than running his mouth off"

The ECB has also thanked Simon Barrow for his loyal service to the country, and they hope he comes out of retirement in the future.
