England have announced their 12 man squad for the 2nd Npower Test Match between themselves and the West Indies at Lords. There are no real suprises in the squad and as expected Stuart Broad replaces the injured Matthew Hoggard. The competition for a place again seems to be between Ian Bell and Paul Collingwood, Bell did not impress in his performance at Trent Bridge, and Collingwood put real pressure on Bell with a wonderful double hundred in Durham's county championship match against Sussex yesterday. The squad is as follows:
Cook
Strauss
Vaughan (Captain)
Pietersen
Bell
Collingwood
Flintoff
Read (wk)
Broad
Harmison
Panesar
Anderson
Ian Botham: Well, its a bit of a difficult pitch to judge here. There is quiet a lot of grass for the seamers early on and it could be difficult for the batsman. However as day one goes on it will become easier to bat and the sun should be out all day. It will spin on days 4 and 5 and so I would think Monty Panesar could have a say on the outcome of this match. I wouldn't like to say what the captain who wins the toss should do, but I'm going to have to say that batting first would perhaps be worthwhile in the long run.

Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss walk out to greet the West Indies bowlers who are baying for blood.
With Jerome Taylor and Fidel Edwards opening the bowling, Andrew Strauss seemed unsure while his partner Cook, seemed like he was enjoying the game after his 50 at Trent Bridge. Strauss tried to hit himself into form but could only manage to drive Fidel Edwards straight to Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who was situated at point. Strauss only had 7 runs to his name. This left England on 19/1 with the new man being captain Michael Vaughan
Collymore gets Vaughan in good opening for Windies
The West Indies got theresecond wicket in the 10th over of the match. In Collymore's first over after replacing Fidel Edwards he managed to bowl Michael Vaughan through the gate. The ball nipped back and Vaughan played on to his stumps through an inside edge. This wicket brought No.4 Kevin Pietersen to the crease with England on 35/2.
After a brief time of consolidation, where Pietersen and Cook gradually ticked the score along. Pietersen had started to attack and was going at over a run a ball. He hit an excellent cover drive from the bowling of Corey Collymore, and tried to repeat the feat the very next ball. However, this time he could only manage to get an edge through to Denesh Ramdin who collected the ball cleanly. With England struggling on 82/3, the under-pressure Ian Bell joined Alastair Cook at the crease.
