Story England's Internationals - England v WI - England win series 2-0

Ramdin gone 1 short of 50

Denesh Ramdin was dismissed for 49 by Steve Harmison as Harmison reached a 2nd series 5-fer. Ramdin tried to hook a bouncer, but edged it to Andrew Strauss at 2nd slip. He went for 49 from 66 balls, after hitting 11 fours. The West Indies were left at 411/9, with no.11 Fidel Edwards coming to the crease. The West Indies still trailed by 190 runs.

England finally end the West Indies innings

After some fun and games from Jerome Taylor and Fidel Edwards, Monty Panesar ended the West Indies innings on 434. Taylor hit Panesar for four, while Edwards hit a four and a six against the bowling of the left arm spinner. Steve Harmison finished with 5-115 from 29 overs, while Monty Panesar finished with 3-141 from 34.4 overs. Stuart Broad and Paul Collingwood got the other two wickets, while Matthew Hoggard and Andrew Flintoff were wicketless, with Flintoff being quite expensive. Three West Indian batsmen got into the 40's, before getting out. The stars of the show for them were Brian Lara with a splendid 111 and Dwayne Bravo with an exciting 72. The West Indies finished 167 runs behind England's first innings total of 601/7.

Day 4 - 12:45PM

England 601/7dec (Vaughan 152, Edwards 4-99)

West Indies 434 (Lara 111, Harmison 115)

England lead by 167 Runs

This is going towards draw unless we see an typical Windies collapse like 100+ or 150+ runs in last day within two sessions :p

England survive until Lunch

Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss managed to keep their wickets intact until lunch on Day 4 of the 3rd npower test at Old Trafford, they were 16/0 from 4 overs. Jerome Taylor and Fidel Edwards were wild with their deliveries, as half of England's runs came from wides, 5 of which came when Taylor's short ball flew over the heads of both batsman and keeper. Cook was on 5 not out and Strauss was on 3 not out. England lead by 163 runs, with a day and 2 sessions left of the match. The television cameras show that Billy Bowden has a very old brick phone, he really needs to upgrade!

Day 4 Lunch

England 601/7 (Vaughan 152, Edwards 4-99)

West Indies 434 (Lara 111, Harmison 5-115)

England 16/0 (Cook 5*) (4 Overs)

Cook 5 (16)
Strauss 3 (8)

England lead by 183 Runs

Heading for a draw, cant see England getting a defendable score and declaring then getting 10 wickets in a day and a half. Although abit of slogging to get upto a lead of 300 in the next session could lead to a declaration in the final session of the day. Who knows.

Yeah England can get to a defendable total and then declare so that may be the team tactics. Nice presentation .

broad didnt get enough bowling for my liking for a "frontline" bowler

is this pernamently stickied?

Strauss and Cook pile on the runs

Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook increased England's lead with free flowing cricket after Lunch at Old Trafford. Both shots on the leg side and off side were being played by the two England openers. Strauss was the more fluent of the two on 28 from 29 balls, while Cook, also on twenty eight, had received 43 balls. The West Indies had used Fidel Edwards, Jerome Taylor and Dave Mohammed. The opening partnership was on 65 with England's lead reaching 232 runs and just 12 overs gone in their 2nd innings.

Mistiming proves costly for Cook

Alastair Cook gave his wicket away and could not match his first innings century in the England 2nd innings at Old Trafford. He went for 32 as he guided a Jerome Taylor delivery, that he was too early on, to Brian Lara at cover who took an easy catch. Cook's 32 came off 45 balls and included 5 fours. Michael Vaughan came to the crease with England on a very tasty 69/1.

Strauss joins Cook for the same score

Andrew Strauss joined Alastair Cook back in the pavilion for 32 from 35 balls at Old Trafford. Strauss really needed a big score, having not got one in the series. He flicked a Fidel Edwards ball off his pads but played it in the air straight to Dave Mohammed at square leg. England were 82/2, with the West Indies fearing a KP masterclass as the batsman came to the crease.

13 unlucky for Pietersen

The West Indies were in a good bowling period as they got rid of Kevin Pietersen for just 13. The South African born batsman tried to square cut but missed the ball completely and it clattered into his stumps. It was Jerome Taylor's 2nd wicket of the innings and KP went for 13 from 19 balls, hitting 2 fours. England were 97/3, leading by 264 runs.

Collingwood and Vaughan build 50+ partnership

Just as the West Indies scented the opportunity to roll England out quickly, Michael Vaughan and Paul Collingwood put pay to that idea. They were attacking against some wayward West Indies bowled as they passed the 50 partnership with fluent stroke play. Vaughan was on 31 not out from 41 balls, while his partner Collingwood was on 28 not out from 40 balls. England were very well placed just before tea on 161/3, after just 30 overs, leading by 328 runs.

Umpires call Tea

Michael Vaughan and Paul Collingwood were still unbeaten as the umpires called Tea on Day 4 of the third npower test at Old Trafford. Vaughan remained on 35 not out from 52 balls, and his partner Collingwood was on 34 not out from 47 balls, having hit a slog sweep six against the bowling of Dave Mohammed. England were 171/3 at tea, with a big lead of 338 runs.

Day 4 Tea

England 601/7 (Vaughan 152, Edwards 4-98)

West Indies 434 (Lara 111, Harmison 5-115)

England 171/3 (Vaughan 35*, Taylor 2-50) (33 Overs)

Vaughan 35 (52)
Collingwood 34 (47)

England lead by 338 Runs

Declare now and go for it, their not going to chase it, it's the windies :D
