I tell you.. its tough to stop Gayle once he starts to dominate With Lara still to come, this can go to draw or may be some quick fire will get them to win.. Who knows.. even a Windies collapse from here Lets see..Interesting Phil
England celebrated the crucial wicket of Daren Ganga for 61 at Old Trafford. Andrew Flintoff bowled the suprise bouncer, which Ganga hooked to Paul Collingwood who was waiting right on the boundary at deep square leg. There was a sense of relief amongst the England fielders. It had been an excellent innings from Ganga, hitting 61 from 90 balls, including 11 fours and 1 six. The West Indies were 104/1, with star man Brian Lara new at the crease. They needed another 324 runs to win, while England needed 9 more wickets.
Lara races past Gayle
Brian Lara raced past his partner Chris Gayle, as he moved on to 28 from 37 deliveries, with his partner Gayle on 27 from 86 balls. The West Indies were moving swiftly and were on 139/1, needing another 289 runs to win, with 9 wickets left.
Gayle is outdone by Harmison yorker!
Brian Lara passing Chris Gayle's score seemed to force strokeplay on the opener, and he changed to what appeared to be his usual self, hitting fours from the bowling of Monty Panesar and Steve Harmison. However, just as Lunch was approaching, Gayle tried to straight drive Harmison, who bowled a yorker. Gayle missed and looked behind to see his leg stump cartwheeling out of the ground. He was bitterly disappointed to get out after spending so long playing himself in, he made 44 from 96 balls, hitting 7 fours. The West Indies were 166/2, needing another 262 runs to win with Shivnarine Chanderpaul joining Brian Lara at the crease.
Umpires call for Lunch
Simon Taufel and Rudi Koertzen called for Lunch on Day 5 of the 3rd npower Test Match between England and the West Indies. The test was evenly poised, with all 3 results still possible. The West Indies were 170/2, needing another 258 runs to win, with Brian Lara and Shivnarine Chanderpaul at the crease, England would feel that they would need at least 3 wickets in the afternoon session to stand a chance of winning,
Day 5 - Lunch

West Indies need 258 runs to win England need 8 wickets to win
Stay tuned for our special lunchtime feature, It's one not to be missed!
Well, its an unusual Gayle innings of taking almost 100 balls to score those runs.. Anyways, nice spending of time at the batting crease though Who knows, he might have saved a Windies collapse too Lets see how this afternoon session goes
David Gower: Hello, and welcome back to Old Trafford, its Lunch time here and as promised before that commercial break, we have got a special feature today. Before this test series began, our man and ex England captain Nasser Hussain went to catch up and interview a true legend of cricket, Sir Viv Richards.
Nasser Hussain: So Viv, how are you doing?
Sir Viv Richards: Yep, I'm good thanks Nasser, really looking forward to seeing how the West Indies boys do on this tour.
Nasser Hussain: And how do you think they'll go? It looks like an inexperienced line up.
Sir Viv Richards: Well, yes its an inexperienced line up, but they still have some older heads in Brian Lara, Shiv Chanderpaul and Sarwan. They should help the younger guys through the test series.
Nasser Hussain: Have you spoke to any of the older heads?
Sir Viv Richards: Well I spoke to Brian last week, and he was quite downbeat on how long he's got left in cricket, I don't know, I hope he'll stay on for a while yet, but I really doubt it.
Nasser Hussain: Now that would be sad news, especially after cricket losing great players such as Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath in the not too distant past. Now lets look at your last test in England at The Oval, which also proved to be your last test in your career.
Sir Viv Richards: That was a really disappointing test match for us, as we'd fought back from being 1-0 down after 2 tests in a 5 match series to go 2-1 up, our batting or bowling just didn't click in the first innings. We fought back in our 2nd innings, but it was never good enough.
Nasser Hussain: You made 60 in your last test innings, what were you thinking during that innings?
Sir Viv Richards: Well, during the innings I was just thinking about helping the team get into a position where we could save the match. Looking back now, it would have been nice to go out on a hundred, but I guess it was just not to be. The innings summed up my series really, I got 5 fifties but could never convert them into a hundred.
Nasser Hussain: Looking back at that bowling line up your had, it was some pace attack, with Marshall, Ambrose and Walsh. If you compare that to the bowling line up that will take part in this series, then it shows a big area that has gone wrong for the West Indies in the intervening years.
Sir Viv Richards: Yep, its desperately disappointing, there is no one in the West Indies attack to really scare a batsman. Fidel Edwards is quick and he could be the best hope. Daren Powell and Jerome Taylor have showed promise so hopefully they can do something in the series.
Nasser Hussain: Well thanks for that Viv, and all the best.
David Gower: We have to remember that the interview was filmed before the series. I have Nasser with me now.
Nasser Hussain: Thanks David, just one thing that me and Sir Viv talked about is showing in this game, there is no way the West Indies bowling line up from that game would have allowed England to declare in both of their innings.
David Gower: Ok Nass, so the West Indies bowlers haven't proved to be what Sir Viv hoped. On to another issue that came out of the interview, Brian Lara's future.
Nasser Hussain: Well David, it looks like it might not be going on for too long further, thats the image I got from Viv. You never know, Lara could change his mind, but it does look in doubt.
David Gower: Well thanks Nass and thanks to Sir Viv for the interview. After the break we'll have the afternoon session on Day 5, which is sure to go a long way in deciding the match.
Very nice interview. Really intriguing. That wasn't such a bad test match, the last one that Richards played in. Looking foward to the next update on the play. Should be great!
Its extremely well presented Phil.. Nice work on Legends of cricket Inspite of a great 50 in last match,it would have been even more better if Windies had won that.. No problems, Windies can still look to win this one
England got the wicket of Brian Lara at Old Trafford, lifting their hopes of winning the match. In the second over after lunch, bowled by Steve Harmison, Lara tried to go over the top, but could only manage to sky it straight up in the air, where it hung for what seemed for ever. Alastair Cook came in onto the wicket and took the catch comfortably to spark scenes of celebrations from England fielders. Lara went for 39 from 57 balls. Ramnaresh Sarwan was the next man in with the West Indies on 173/3 needing 255 more to win.
England grab another wicket as tension grows
Monty Panesar got the wicket of Shivnarine Chanderpaul to reduce the West Indies to 173/4 at Old Trafford. Chanderpaul drove a flighted delivery to mid-on, where Stuart Broad took the catch. The West Indian batsman went for just 4 from 11 balls. England thought that victory was not too far away and Dwaye Bravo was the new man in.
