Mandira Bedi : Hello and welcome all our viewers from around the world to EXTRA INNINGS for the final show of Extra Innings for the ICC Champions Trophy 2006. Today we have witnessed a fantastic final match which which a pressure situation and it went till the last ball of the match and Yuvraj Singh was India's hero today as he smashed McGrath for the most crucial boundary on the match and also those were the winning runs for India and India won the Icc Champions Trophy 2006 .Its disappointing for Australia as they were so close to win this match and win the Champions Trophy for the 1st time but they lost the match with the very last ball of the match . With me in the studio are two cricketing experts Navjot Singh Sidhu and G.Boycott.

N.Sidhu : Wow that was just unbelievable final match no one ever expected it to be so tight and at one stage I thought that Australia will run away with victory as India are famous for crumbling under pressure and when the reach the finals they simply start losing their wickets. But today they kept their cool and went on to fight right till the end and never gave up . Indians certainly lost couple of wickets in the start with Tendulkar and Sehwag departed quickly but Dhoni and Dravid got a good partnership going but then India were in a spot of bother when wickets were falling at regular intervals . Yuvraj Singh was out there in the middle and was battling hard but there was no support from the other players as wickets kept on falling but Yuvraj kept most of the strike and in the end Agarkar took some pressure off by scoring the boundary in the last over and then Yuvraj smashed the match winning boundary and won the Champions Trophy for India .Australia on the other hand are unlucky as they worked hard to get in the finals and at one stage were strong contenders for winning this match but Dhoni's magnificant innings and Yuvraj's match winning innings was much to take the match away from Australia.

G.Boycott:Congrajulations to India for winning the Champions Trophy 2006 . It was a great match to watch tense situation right till the very end and India snatched victory in the end by a smashing boundary by Yuvraj Singh. Australia were the strong contenders to win this match but India bowled well keeping the Australian batsmen quite in the middle overs but there were some good knocks by Ponting and Hussey and 278 was defendable on such wicket . But India made full use of the home conditions and fantastic knock by Dhoni and Yuvraj who sealed victory for India . G.McGrath bowled well but he gave away the decisive 9 runs in the last over which won the match for India . Australia will have to wait for the next Champions Trophy to win it but their next aim is to regain the Ashes.

Ian Botham :Good Evening ladies and gentlemen .Well the Champions Trophy Final was the bets in this tournament it was getting exciting till the end of the match .And Yuvraj Singh played a heroic innings and it was him along with Dhoni who wrote the winning script for India.First of all I request Australian captain R.Ponting to come forward please .

Well Ricky that was really a tough match you were unlucky as you did all the hard work with the bat and then you were close to win but it went the other way in the end and its quite disappointing to lose the tournament right with the last ball.

R.Ponting : Yeah we batted well we got a good score on the board 278 was indeed a winning total on this track . Gilly and Myself got a good start early on and then Hussey smashed the bowlers away and we got a good total but Indian batted nicely and it was apressure situation for them as well our bowlers did well but in the end we think that were were 10-15 runs short and that was all for us to lose the match.

Ian Botham : Now the Champions Trophy is lost and now the big one is coming up i.e. the Ashes. What all plans are you with upto for the Ashes ?

R.Ponting : Ashes is a big one for us. Our players have played well in this tournament and now we are hoping that we play well in the Ashes and regain the urn back

Ian Botham : Good luck for the Ashes Ricky .

R.Ponting : Thanks Ian.

Ian Botham :Now before calling the Indian captain i will like to announce the Man Of The Match for today and its choosen by the commentary team and the match refree and we have decided that the Man Of The match for today is Yuvraj Singh for his excellent match winning innings and played a fighting knock right till the end. .

Congrajulations Yuvraj for this wondeful batting performance and a match winning effort how do u feel after this achievement ?

Y.Singh:It was a big target to chase and we needed a good start but we lost wickets in the 1st 10 overs but then Rahul and Dhoni played wonderfully and then then i started getting a partnership with Dhoni who was batting nicely and after he lost his wicket i knew that i will have to stay till the end as the match is not over yet and we can pull it out and then i plying sensibly right till the end and ofcourse winning the CHampions Trophy is a great achievement .

Ian Botham :Well you are one of the best finishers India have how do u feeling after hitting the match winning boundary?

Y.Singh:Each time when it comes to finishing the match that time Dhoni is there with the support at the other end and we win comfortably but this time Dhoni was sent up the order and he did all the hard work and today i was feeling the pressure and when it came to 4 runs in 3 balls I missed the 1st one and the the 2nd one went straight to the fielder and i was under pressure as i had to score a boundary on that last delivery and presented the full face of the bat and smashed it straight over the bowler and i did it for my country . This is my best knock so far i have ever played for my country.

A.GilchristThanks Ian i loved batting in this Indian condition and am happy that i scored two match winning centuries which my team needed but i am equally disappointed that my team lost today .We hope that we will play well in the Ashes and hopefully win there to regain back the Urn.

Ian Botham : Now i will like to call the winning captain Rahul Dravid on stage................Well Rahul congrajulations but your team batted well today and won the match in pressure situation and certainly won the Champions Trophy.

R.Dravid :Yes we showed a good performance with the bat.I got a good partnership going along with Dhoni who batted fantastically and then Yuvi played a great match winning innings and we won with a last ball boundary from Yuvraj . The dressing room was tensed we were all bitting our nails till the very end but eventually we won the match .


Ian Botham :Now your team is well balanced and your team has beat Australia now but did u think about the World Cup 03 finals ?.

R.Dravid :Yes that was simalar Aussies were 1st to bat and today we bowled well actually to restrict them to get on with a good start and then tday we batted well as well and we won due to team effort.

well if u will look from the start of the Champions Trophy from page 31 then here's what u will see :-

1. Qualifying Stage : Controlled West Indies and SriLanka in the 1st few matches and then in the last match between WI v SL i autoplayed to see which team goes in which group.

2. Group Stages : Controlled only England with bat and ball and other matches were autoplayed .

3. SemiFinals : As England were eliminated the teams left were India , Pakistan , SriLanka and Australia so i autoplayed both the semifinals i.e. i autoplayed both India v Pak and SL v Aus.

4. Finals : India and Australia made it to the finals . Then i was confused big time which team to control .Members suggested that control both teams with either their batting or bowling whichever i am good with . I am good with batting so i controlled both Australia and India with their batting .

5. What will i do in Ashes ? : In the Ashes i will fully control England with their batting and bowling .
