Australia need 307 to win in 70 overs

England were in a spot of bother when they were struggling at 76/5 during the tea interval on day 4. But a much needed partnership between Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff helped England to put up a decent second innings total and set Australia a challenging total on day 5. Just when things were looking under Australia's control after they made a solid comeback, England did well to get a partnership for the 6th wicket when it mattered the most. The 6th wicket partnership yielded 72 runs with Pietersen scoring 54 runs to continue his good batting form. Pietersen, who was already in good batting form in this series, smashed another half century to help England post a decent target along with Flintoff who finally managed to score some runs after couple of ducks in the series. After the top order collapsed during the second session of the day, Pietersen and Flintoff then played cautiously trying to preserve their wicket and getting runs as well. Pietersen was aggressive right from the start but was playing some good cricketing shots instead of just slogging each and every delivery. However Flintoff was very watchful during the final session and was giving most of the strike to Pietersen who went on tho score his third half-century of the series. At the end of the day Flintoff played some big shots and also smashed Warne out of the park to end the day with the score on 159 for the loss of 5 wickets.

699th test wicket for Warne
On day 5, England came out to bat with a lead of 246 runs and were hoping to score more in the starting session and then press forward for a win. However England suffered an early setback after Kevin Pietersen lost his wicket in the process of trying to score quick runs. Pietersen's good knock finally came to an end after he tried to sweep Warne and ended up giving a simple catch to Symonds just the same way as he got out in the first innings giving Warne his 699th test wicket and now he is just 1 step away from reaching the milestone of 700 wickets. The crowd gave a standing ovation of Kevin Pietersen as he made his walk back to the dressing room but one feel that Australia can win this one if England fails to set a target over 300..

McGrath destroys England's batting
England were trying to pick as many runs as possible after the fall of Pietersen's wicket. Flintoff was doing a good job with the bat this morning and Jones was supporting him nicely before he top edged a bouncer from McGrath giving an easy catch to short fine leg. McGrath picked up his 3rd wicket of the innings but it was just the start of an amazing bowling spell. Just one spell from McGrath devastated England completely. Wickets kept on falling one after another as Flintoff missed his half-century after ending one to Matthew Hayden. Then it was just the tail who were struggling against the accuracy of McGrath. Hoggard was cleaned bowled by a beauty which came back in sharply after pitching. Finally England were all out after Broad was caught behind off the bowling of McGrath who ended this spell with the figures of 18-5-40-6. Stuart Broad managed to score some important runs which helped England to set a target of 307 runs which was really challenging for Australia as they needed to achieve it in just 70 overs.

Is it possible to score 307 in 70 overs on day 5? Experts will say that they are the world champions and they will give their best to chase this target but the pitch is helping the spinners now and if the fast bowlers stick to a good line then the batsmen will find it difficult to bat.

This is going to be quite tight. I think it will be a draw to be honest.

Superb works Sarvesh bhai. Tremendous works mate. I love this story. Keep it up.

Around 4 and a half an over for the Aussies, which should be done. England may have just thrown away the test and the series...

great update mate...not at all gonna be easy but never impossible....
awesome presentation and next match warne to get his 700th wicket...

Great bowling by Mcgrath! England are in trouble but the first inning got them an advantage. Should be an easy win for Australia.
