New Zealand v South Africa , Live from Mumbai

David Gower:Hello and welcome to the 1st match of Group B of the Champions Trophy 2006, between teams well balanced and strong teams who give their best when they come on the field to play the game. Both the team are the strongest contenders for winning the Champions Trophy and are almost the same strength with their batting , bowling and fielding. New Zealand who have not played their cricket for the last 6-7 months are back to International cricket and that to in Champions Trophy and they are really hungry to start with a win while South Africa are in tremendous form and created a world record by chasing 400+ runs against Australia just a few months ago . Lets take a look at the match conditions and toss for todays match.

Match Conditions

ath5yd.jpg
M.Atherton :The conditions are excellent for cricket no signs of rain and some good sunshine not too hot and not too cold and the players will be loving this. The pitch is covered with a layer of green grass and there will be swing for the bowlers in the whole match .Batsmen are really going to have lots of problems while facing the quick bowlers and it will be hard to bat first so the captain winning the toss will surely bowl first
The Toss
Ian Botham :South Africa have won the toss and G.Smith has decided to bowl first . Thats a good decision as the pitch is bowler friendly and with the likes of Pollock and Ntini in the side the bowling will be dangerous and really it is a worrying factor for NewZealand to bat first. So lets get the match started and surely it will be a tough one for the batsmen .Lets see who win this one :cheers

NewZealand Innings
Having lost the toss NewZealand were asked to bat first and South Africans made the most out of it with some accurate display of swing bowling with pace and control of line and length . New Zealand were bowled out for 161 in just 40.3 overs and really it was poor display of batting by them but some great display of swing bowling by South Africans . It all started with Shaun Pollock troubling the openers L.Vincet and S.Fleming by a teasing line on the offstump and moving the ball away from them . Pollock was proving to be most economical while from the other end M.Ntini was bowling with tremendous pace and it was a nightmare for the NewZealand batsmen . But the experience of Fleming was going to count here and he was having a chat with Vincent quicte often and they decided to get on with the first few overs by just leaving the swinging deliveries and waiting for the loose balls. This strategy worked for few overs and the score was 40 but the M.Ntini provided the breakthrough for South Africa with a inswinging delivery to Fleming and knocking the middle stump out of the ground . Fleming had no answer to that ball .
J.Kallis was give the ball as the 1st change in bowling and within no time he was in wickets column. He trapped L.Vincet with a great inswinger for which he didn't offer any shot and was crealy plum in front. But today there was no stopping for Kallis he was proving to he most aggresive bowler as he was controlling a good line and length and then the pitch was doing everything for him . Soon H.Marshall became Kallis's 2nd victim as he was bowled be and outswinger and H.Marshal didn't believe his eyes that the ball went on to hit the stumps. J.Oram came and went back to the pavilion as he smashed a 4 off the very 1st ball to Kallis and the 2nd ball he was caught behind off an outswinger . Kallis picked up his 3rd wicket and then he finished off his spell with figures of 10 Overs 1 Maiden 41 Runs 3 Wickets. later as NewZealand were struggling with the bat N.Boje and M.Ntini qrapped up the thing quickly and NewZealand were bowled out for just 161 in 40.3 overs which was indeed a poor performance by them . South Africa have an easy task now in front of them but New Zealand have Shane Bond who will be the dangerous bowler for them.
J.Kallis with a great spell:

South African Innings
South Africa responded to this small total nicely with a good start for G.Smith and Gibbs played a great role with opening the batting by scoring good little knock of 38 runs before getting out to the bwoling of Oram. But then the man who bowled beautifully today J.Kallis came to the crease and got a goos partnership going alsong with captain G.Smith and helped South Africa to win the match easily. They showed how to bat in swinging conditions but NewZealand bowlers were not bowling upto the mark perhaps the small total let them down.South Arfica won comfortably by 9 wickets as Smith scored 74 runs and Kallis shined with the bat as well scoring 39 runs.

Smith and Kallis shine with the bat:

Good, comfortable win for South Africa. Great work with the wallpapers. Great presentation. Keep up the fantastic work!

What a one sided match. Good batting by Smith and Kallis though.

Very nice presentation Gamer :)

that should put the proteas (or cricketboks - 12th man) in good stead for the rest of the competition. where do you get the backgrounds for those images gamer? do you make them or find them somewhere, id love to source some good ones to help my presentation

Nice presentation gamerkid. Poor Kiwis their top order got starts but then got out, just not enough runs against this strong SA side.
