Colly got hit where it hurts. Never a nice feeling. The thing in England's favour is the fact that they have 8 wickets in hand so they can blast away at the end.

Pietersen's gutsy innings comes to an end

Kevin Pietersen was finally out just when England were looking in a good position and were scoring at a quicker rate .Pietersen was playing nicely after his half century and he started to play his natural game after that as boundaries were free flowing for him. He got back-to-back boundaries of an over of Shane Watson and that were the danger signs for Australians as Piteresen has the ability to turn things around at any stage of the game. Pietersen just got bat on ball and quickly called for a single but Shane Watson was quick enough and picked the ball one handed and got a good throw at the non-striker's end where Hogg was coming for the backup but Watson threw the ball off-balanced and it resulted in a direct hit. The Third Umpire was called called for the decision and Pietersen was well short of his ground. It wasn't a way that Pietersen would have imagined to get out . But now he has to walk back to the pavillion and the crowd appreciated his good knock of 74 runs in 96 balls with 11 Fours and 1 Six which was huge.

Paul Collingwood is there on 41 off 80 balls and now he should get a move on as well as England should up their run rate here if they want to get a decent score . Freddie Flintoff has walked to the middle and now he will be the key man and he has to play a captains knock here.

England : 133/3 (31 overs)
Run Rate :4.29
K.Pietersen: Run Out 74 (96)11 Fours 1 Six
P.Collingwood: Not Out 41 (80) 4 Fours

Unlucky to end the innings in this way but well done Pieterson :clap Fine innings from him!

What a brilliant sight......KP goes after doing his share of thrashing and instead of being relieved the Aussies have to suffer the sight of the next man walking in - Andrew Flintoff!!

But yeah I agree PC has to get a move on now and score runs quickly. Freddie has to settle in first so a lot of responsibility now lies on Collingwood.

Collingwood reached 50 and Flintoff got a good start

Finally England are set to blast in this final few overs as Collingwood reached his half century but his innings was slow one and now he need to score quickly as England have a good platform as they are on 164 runs with 12 overs to go and still they have 7 wickets in hand. Paul Collingwood's half century came in 92 balls which consisted only of 4 boundaries but this knock have proved very important one for England as they needed a set batsman to stay at the crease in the closing stages of the innings. Its a good knock by Collingwood and everyone has to appreciate his patience for waiting for so long at the crease and scoring such important runs. The key in Collingwood's innings was that he waited for the ball to come on the bat and never went after the ball. But now he has to look for the boundaries and has to score quickly.

Meanwhile after getting his 50 Colingwood is now showing some signs of going for the big one . He tried it twice in an over of Shane Watson where once he failed to connect it properly ending it just short of long-on fielder while 2nd time he had a wild swing but he missed it completely. Freddie Flintoff has got a good start as he was looking for singles while he came to the middle but now he scored 2 boundaries in an over of Glen McGrath. Now it will be interesting to see if Australia can put the breaks on England innings as Brett Lee will be firing up to bowl his 4 overs at the end of the innings..

lets see whether slow and steady wins the race ;) Anything around 250-260 wud look good to defend!

Nice steady innings there but its time to break the patience!

Australia are going to require some wickets to put some pressure on England to stop them getting a higher total then what they want them to have

Some big hitting needed in the final 10 overs. These two look rather settled, so 250+ is definitely on the cards. Love the presentation gamer. Reps.

Some powerful hitting at the end

England managed to get a good total in the end with some powerful hitting by Andrew Flintoff and Collingwood joined the party as well. After reaching his half century Collingwood decided to go after the bowling and tried to do that in an over of G.McGrath but he missed the opportunity twice. Then Andrew Symonds was given the ball to try his medium pace as he can run through his overs quickly and also bowls a good line. Collingwood went for a huge hit on the leg side and connected it handsomely . That got things moving and next ball he smashed Symonds for a boundary on the offside . Symonds was really frustrated and he was taken out of the attack and N.Bracken was called back. The final few overs were to be bowled by Bracken and Brett Lee . But Flintoff was there and was using the pace of Brett Lee to clear the boundaries . He got a huge six over long-on where the fielder had no chance of any catch as the ball just sailed over him. Flintoff and Collingwood were trying to hit each and every ball and were picking quick singles and were converting the 1's into 2'sThis 4th wicket partnership between Collingwood and Flintoff provided 93 runs and this partnership helped England to score heavily in the final overs.
Hard hitting in the end

In the 2nd last over of the innings Flintoff tried to hit Bracker over lef side boundary but he was unsuccessful as he got a leading edge and Brett Lee made no mistake in taking that catch . Freddie Flintoff's good innings finally came to an end as he scored a quick 57 in just 60 balls with 5 fours and 1 six.He played a good captains role in the end and now the damage is already done . Collingwood ended the innings nicely and remained unbeaten on 84 off 131 balls with 7 fours and 1 six. That was a good fighting innings by Collingwood which was slow at the start but then he managed to score quickly when it mattered the most. Dalrymple was bowled by Brett Lee on the last ball of the England innings and England were happy as they scored 244 runs which is good score on such type of wicket.
