England's tour of India - 2021

Called it even before the Indian 1st innings started that Rohit will fail. However, reading the commentary it appears that he got a "p(l)each" of a delivery in the 2nd innings. So hard to judge his 2nd innings but still, a fail is a fail.

Judging by my friend's reaction over here who is a massive Rohit fan, I doubt it was anything more than a good delivery aided by the standard crumbling day four pitch.

Draw will be a Monumental Task for india Tommorow.

England should win this they way the played the test match - dominated the game so far.

There's still a bit of me that thinks Rishabh could win it for India tomorrow. Maybe it's Kyle Mayers induced optimism

I definitely think there are twists and turns to come!
As Donald Trump always says: "I am a twat, the bestest twat there has been, such much twatness, such twatty" and I think we can all agree on that. Although I have no idea what that has to do with anything really. Ho hum, back to my cornflakes.

I think England will go one nil up tomorrow. To be honest, India have not played poorly even in this test match, let alone badly. They've had the rough end of the stick with the conditions as it was unbelievably flat on day 1 & day 2.

There was never any doubt about England being a challenge but I think we have space to improve. I think Kohli's mindset with the bat has been a worry for a while and the selection of Nadeem over Kuldeep was a joke. Now, Nadeem will be dropped and we will have two spinners wondering what their bearings are in test match cricket. Then, we will probably win this series and the captain and coach will make bombastic comments. Also, I don't think Sundar is ready. I understand that we had no choice at the Gabba but it's not the case anymore. He's good enough to bat 6/7 but you can see that his bowling is suited to the white ball stuff. Lastly, I have always felt that if it turns, two spinners are sufficient specially with Ashwin in the ranks who's money in the bank in these conditions. A third seamer renders much more control and accuracy ala pressure and it gives a captain more room to manoeuvre if the track is docile. Ashwin has been good enough to bat at 7 in these conditions and I will never understand why he's so underrated with the bat. It was the same with Jadeja for three years till this group of clowns woke up.

I think India played well in this test match but the selection and field sets were frankly embarrassing. It's getting bad to worse everyday.

I think 381 runs on the final day is a bit much.

The final session at the Gabba India scored about 140 and West Indies about 130. Even if India left themselves 150 it's still scoring at 230 in two sessions on a day five pitch. Although if Gill and Pant were to face half the balls tomorrow I reckon they'd have a chance.

It would be a pleasant surprise if India did manage to draw tomorrow. Winning is out of question. As mentioned above, 230 in two sessions is a pipe dream. Even with Pant and Gill and Kohli (who can up the ante), it's too steep of a hill to climb.

The worry is that once you've set your mind towards a draw, you play defensively which may result in wickets with not much on the scoreboard, which in turn weighs you down as more wickets start to fall down. Everything points to an England win tomorrow.

Well, third test match in a row where we will have to bat our skin out to either save or win. Winning definitely looks a little improbable, but I know this team and they will try to go for a win which looks tough since they would need 4.2 runs an over from get go tomorrow. So I would say, go for a win and adjust accordingly.

India's best chances are of a draw. Their approach will simply be to bat normally till tea and then figure what to do. I think this is the best way to approach things and India will do exactly that. England will give an arm and a leg to see the back of Pujara early. I had said it on day 4 at Brisbane and say it again now that whether we win or draw, it will depend mainly on him. He is the insurance policy that allows the others to bat freely.

As long as Pujara is batting, India are favourites to at least draw.

Yet again.... Three test matches in a row, India with their backs to the wall and enter the final day with all hopes pinned on Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant. This is going to be a far tougher challenge on a crumbling Day 5 Chennai pitch, but India basically need to follow the exact same approach that they used at the Gabba where they started real slow, and then gauge situation.

Watching the highlights and boy, what a beautiful batsman Sundar is. This guy's slated to be an excellent long format player for India. I wish he can recreate this form into his bowling soon. He can bat in any conditions

Get ready for,

ODI Innings from Gill and Kohli
Test Innings from Pujara and Rahane
T20 Innings from Pant and Sundar

At a Chepauk Stadium near you.

Very classy. I was myself drooling over him till Shubman Gill came out and played two of the most nonchalant flick shots! That kid is made of outwardly stuff! Backfoot flick and just a snap of the top wrist for boundaries! Unreal!

Pant kept really well in this innings but nobody will mention it.

Also, the Indian media is beyond shameless. Even the likes of Harsha Bhogle (his PJ's are getting really obnoxious) They are willing to all come out and criticise Root for the declaration tactics but Kohli has been atrocious for half a decade and not a word. Only GG seems to have the guts!

Cut them some slack. They are being smart to exist in the world of survival. They know what the audience and the people in charge want from them. And giving them exactly that. It's just being smart.
