England's tour of India - 2021

Cut them some slack. They are being smart to exist in the world of survival. They know what the audience and the people in charge want from them. And giving them exactly that. It's just being smart.

Cut them slack? LOL

They get paid for watching the game we love and giving their opinions on it. It's a luxury, not a job which consists of pressure or everyday chores like we go through. It is their responsibility to tell us the truth just like the players are expected to play the game cleanly.

World of survival! :lol

Most of these guys have their own YouTube channels after giving their views on TV/Webisode and they get paid a bomb on both quarters so please pardon me if I as a consumer and someone who pays for the service I receive finds it below reasonable quality.

Bully culture never works long term as the Aussies are finding out now. The English team are reigning world champions and you should see how openly Sky can call it like they see it. They are answerable to the viewing public, not the ECB or the players.

You are being rather daft if you think that the media should play along to the BCCI bully culture just because it has power and money. It doesn't lead to the growth of our cricket, only it's loss. A fine example of it was the 2019 World Cup. After the fiasco that ensued, I don't remember any other Indian captain in our history who would have kept his job. The media plays a huge role in him being able to do that.

Pujara was very unlucky.
Yes he was. My reference tho was he gifted it as he played a rare aggressive shot. Hit in air and you risk being snaffled by a fielder.. and he was. This is why Pant needs to temper his aggressive tendancies today.. if that is possible. Play for the team not for glory young fellar.

India will draw on its supreme last day efforts in the Sydney and Brisbane Tests for inspiration today. The former 5/334 to draw the game and the latter with a gritty 7/329 to win the series.

The remaining India top 6 must take Pujara's lead and bat time to save this match. However having seen the way they demoralised us in Sydney and Brisbane I dont think it is beyond the realms of possibility that they can win this. On the other side of the coin England's bowlers will be assisted by this crumbling deck and must fancy its chances to go 1 up in the series.

Didn’t Harsha get attacked by the Indian captain on Twitter last time? And i think it was just because he was praising the opponents too much.

^This.

And I think there was some speculation of a certain Amitabh Bachchan having a dig at him as well which prompted even more controversy and trouble for Harsha.

It's easy to say that experts shouldn't play to the bully culture of the media or a monopoly but at the end of the day, these experts are just like everyone else and want some job security. You may argue about how all these ex-players are blatantly making their views clear but that's probably an advantage of being an ex-player and not being on the board's payroll anymore. Harsha has been shut down by the BCCI before so it's understandable why he wouldn't want to say something that is inflammatory or something that could hurt his reputation just like the time when he did get removed for a period of time. Having said that, he is under a lot of pressure to not f- up again given the huge amount of power that certain individuals at the top of the BCCI have and I'm sure of anyone there that doesn't like what he says could remove him again.

On the match, it will be a very tough challenge to draw this game. Agree with the fact that India haven't played badly this test match, just had the wrong side of the conditions and couldn't really do much on a flat deck on Days 1 and 2. Although, England seem to have planned very well for this tour and utilized conditions very well to their advantage which can't be discredited. I think Bess and Leach bowled pretty well in the first innings having reduced India to 71/4 and if it hadn't been for Sundar, Pant and Pujara it could've looked pretty bleak.

The real test for india begins in an hour

Did you forget that Harsha Bhogle was kicked off the BCCI commentary team because Amitabh Bachchan of all people, had complained that he was not biased while commentating?

GG can easily say anything because he is doing so at a website (Cricinfo) , but not on a TV channel.

He's one of the partners at cricbuzz and they make a bomb so the job security doesn't fly. He has a duty to be truthful which he is not currently and was one of the people heavily critical of Root. Also, please do notice how much he cuts short his fellow experts these days.

There is a piece involving him, Murli Karthik and GK on an IPL review. You could almost sense how agitated Kartik was getting. I'll look for it and share and I am aware that sort of thing happens time to time but this job security and sympathy is abominable. Cheating your consumers is a very bad route to take.

If I were to rate, I think England's sky is the most balanced and best coverage. India's is too favourable to their team and Pakistan's just looks for a reason to bash their side.
