England's tour of India - 2021

Nothing Kohli can do there. The BCCI really should look into the track made here and I'd be saying the same thing if the shoe was on the other foot. The toss was too important in this test match. The difference in the track from day 1 to day 5 has been oceanic.

This is pretty common, no? I think the games where the pitch doesn’t deteriorate are often quite boring.

5-fer for Leachy?
Be delighted for him if he gets it

Tosses in general are very vital to winning a test match over the last few years. Something has to be done about it.

England richly deserve this victory, they've outplayed India at their own game of batting the opposition out of the game and then applying the pressure to get wickets.

Wasn't the idea floated to give the away side the choice doing away with the toss and making home nations think more about the pitch?

I think we wouldn't be complaining had we batted first in this match. We won 3 in 3 matches against South Africa on similar pitches last time. Also in a match against Bangladesh at Indore in 2019 where Bangladesh squandered their advantage of getting to bat first.

Superb win. Lucky to win the toss. Joe Root's 218 pretty much the difference. Don't know if he'd have been able to do that on day 3 and 4.

Super bowling today. Jimmy's first over was superb. Leach with a good come back after getting smashed in the first innings. Bess managed to bowl three full tosses in a row.

What a victory. All the bowlers contributed and the performance with the bat in the first innings set the tone. It will be interesting to see what changes are made to the side for the 2nd test.

Foakes will come in for Buttler and I would imagine before the test it would've been agreed that Broad would play the second test but after Jimmy's wonder spell who knows.
