I think Bess needed a rest to be honest. Although I was wondering how they're going to select a bowling line up for the pink test. Anderson and Archer back in - Stokes the third bowler? Thought maybe Moeen might have been a second spinner and all rounder instead of a batsman.

I'd have thought that as well. But from listening to commentary when the team came out, the used dropped for Bess and rested for Anderson, wouldn't you have just said both were rested in that case?

Also, I'm basically having Root as the second spinner in that side. I reckon that in a day/night Test you'd get away with it, then bring back whichever of Bess or Ali is less crap for the fourth Test in place of Broad

Probably don't need a second spinner I suppose if Root can chip in. Wood would ideally be my first choice for some short fiery spells but Archer will probably walk in if fit.
