Well, apparently they don't consider themselves to be a small club whatsoever and Mike Ashley has an obsession with big name managers.

Similar case here as well.

.

At least he didn't land you up to your neck in debt - quite the opposite, eh?

Similar in a way that the owner damages the club in a certain way. While the Glazers put your club in a bad financial state, our club's owner tends to make some horrible decisions such as sacking important people at the club. And some of the decision's timing was pretty bad too. Newcastle's Mike Ashley ain't far off either.

Great so it looks like we're being stuck with Pardew because he is gambling buddies with Mike Ashley and his cronies. That man makes me so sick, I genuinely wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire. I think we now officially have the worst owner in the Premiership. At least the Glazers never sacked Ferguson to replace him with one of their bitches. Honestly feel sick to the bottom of my stomach and the worst thing is there is nothing any of the fans can do about it. Our club after it begun to re-build itself is being destroyed by a fat, balding, crook who has more money then sense and seems hell bent on turning Newcastle into another Leeds!!!

Yeah. Alan Pardew is hardly an inspiring manager and not sure how well is he gonna do considering he has been out of the Premier League for some time already.

Lucas horrible? He was absolutely brilliant. I think he's been one of the best players so far this season. His positioning is excellent, always there for the easy pass, and his passing has become very reliable. He was criticised for being too weak on the ball, and too wreckless and late in tackles, but he's improved in those areas. He's become much stronger and improved his reactions. Lucas has had a great season.

I totally agree with you there Dr Pepper.

So you guys mean that he deserves a spot in the playing XI of Liverpool ??
Yeah he is good at short passing and positioning even better but still lacks the thing called "talent" in him . babel has not had a very good 12 months but he has the talent to win a match anytime . So is glen johnson but seriously dont call lucas a talent .:facepalm

I must of watched a different game. I felt Johnson was better than his recent performances and Dirk Kuyt is our most consistant work horse in the team. Gotta give it to Babel and N'Gog they looked real good there

yeah agree with you again. But that was the case up and until benitez stayed here . Seriously if you take a look at his(Kuyt's) performances post world cup, they have not been upto his standards , well below par.
As for johnson, he was more a good attacker with pace and dribbling skills than his usual defensive skills. Was woeful against spurs letting bale get away too easily past him . And now thats exactly what happened with albrighton and downing getting away with ease
And yeah n'gog and babel were brilliant to watch , were sensational, creative and pretty good on the day

LOL It's pretty obvious you have no real knowledge of football and obviously have only been watching football the last few years as Newcastle have struggled. I would hardly call having one of the biggest grounds in the Premiership, one of the biggest fan followings and being 20th on the Forbes list of richest football clubs (7th in the Premiership!!!) is a low profile club

Lol i know all these things as a matter of fact man. Still do you think that a top 4 finish is what the board expects from a guy managing newcastle ?? These were the objectives ON and until 2005 . Ever since take a look at their performances where it has been only the bottom half case. And after they got relegated, even worse . Nowadays, even Liverpool board does not expect the manager to bring about a top 4 finish for the club then how can you dream of newcastle by simply relishing on past glories (consistent top 4 finishes) ?? :rolleyes

Same goes to Rovers. They were so good a decade ago and now they are Blackburned.

Yeah, Newcastle was very good about a 5 years ago.

True - like Ray Wilkins; he was treated in a most shabby way. Let's be honest, even though your owner has made you a powerhouse of English football, you have to admit that people like him and the Man City owner are not going to be good for English football long term. Of course, we don't even need to mention our idiot owners.

Can't argue too much about it but to be fair, at least Roman is trying to emphasize on promoting and using the young players that we have rather go kamikaze spending like what Man City is doing now.

Having said that, we really do need to buy one or two players because our squad is looking thin right now with all the injuries and future suspensions.

On Alan Pardew's appointment, it seems pretty bad enough to appoint him as the Newcastle manager but to offer him a 5 1/2 years contract?! Seriously! :facepalm

Mike Ashley must be a Sunderland fan at heart - he's certainly doing his best to ruin Newcastle Utd!

Alan Pardew isn't a bad manager, but it's completely absurd to hire him. He is no better than Hughton, he'll come in without any backing from the fans or players who are expecting the worst (as opposed to Hughton who had the backing of everyone except Ashley), and to top it off - a 5 and a 1/2 year contract? Makes no sense.

And he's just been sacked... by Southampton. In what way does that make him qualified to move to a much bigger club?

I'm not saying he should be manager of Newcastle, all I'm saying is, is he's not as bad as people are making out. He didn't do a bad job at Southampton. Yeah they may have had a good squad and probably should've got promoted easily, but what about teams like Leeds? It's a strange league and a tough one to get out of.

I know - didn't mean to sound like I was having a go. :)

Same here. Just saying that Alan Pardew is a bad choice when there are better managers who are still out of job but I guess he was Mike Ashley's main choice because they are gambling buddies.
