Utd deserved to win. Much the better side all game. The two goals conceded were from uncharacteristic poor defending from the two senior defenders.

Carrick had another good game in the middle, showed by our domination of possession. Gibson wasn't awful but he has too many moments of sheer stupidity. I really can not see a future for him at Utd, just way out of his depth. Park didn't really get into the game, but it was good to see him back after being out for so long. Huge asset now that he's fit again.

Also terrible game for the refs in the Everton vs Villa game. The Beckford disallowed goal is just another example of why goal-line technology needs to come into football. Since its just ridiculous & an utter insult to the sport when that happens. :facepalm

There have been more paper rumours - that Fergie wants to 'rebuild Utd's midfield around Wes Sneijder', who he's willing to offer ?40m for.

I agree with Rooney's two match ban. Not only because he's United :D , but he is a role model to millions of kids and now when a child scores a goal on a weekend for there team they will think it's "cool" to swear when you celebrate. If anything it should be more games.

He's a role model? Since when? He doesn't have to be a role model if he doesn't want to be. And who would want Wayne Rooney as their role model anyway?!

It's a ridiculous ban. Players swear at refs, at each other, at managers all the time, but nothing gets done. The camera shows the players doing that but nothing gets done about it. Sky chose to show him swearing at the camera, it was obvious what he was going to do but they kept the camera on him.

What about when Harry Redknapp told a reporter to eff off live on air? Anything happen to him? No.

And kids being influenced by him swearing? Go to a game and the fans are chanting much worse. And what about someone like Paulo Di Canio - kids looked up to him, did they all grow up to be fascists?

Utterly ridiculous ban.

I agree with the ban- Rooney's payed an obscene amount of money a week and should be expected not only to play good football, but also to be a role model to the kids watching him, whether he likes it or not. Finding a TV camera recording to swear into, meaning his obscenities will be broadcasted to admiring kids all over the country is a disgrace- his ban is a just one.

Agreed 1000% percent.

Rooney faces two-match ban for 'F-word' - ESPN Soccernet

Just when he seems to return to his glory-glory days , lightning strikes !

For what he said, it's a ridiculous ban and will get reduced to one match. He hasn't exactly had a great time of it recently and it was clearly a heat of the moment thing. Of course, the FA are going to jump on it because it's Rooney. So, every time someone swears - into the camera or not - it's a two match ban? Hmmm, we'll see.

And of course, he is gonna miss the crucial FA Cup Semi Final against Man City.

By the way, make sure you guys take points off City in your next league game. :D

See above post.

Although this has been discussed before already but here's an article on Michael Carrick.

Tactics: Michael Carrick is an underrated force for Manchester United in Europe | ITV Sport

Well written i must say (even as a man who is skeptical about Carrick's abilities many times). He was really superb at the Bridge, he can be such an enigma at times, as the article said he really is a confidence player.

So maybe in England new 4-3-3 formation if he is playing well & confidently a recall to the England side is very possible.
