Edit: Actually, after thinking about it, losing against Chelsea against Sunday will only put them top by goal difference, so if we have to hand out a flogging on the last day to Blackpool in order to win it on goal difference instead of them, I would be quite confident about it happening.

Assuming if we do beat you, the only way for us to increase our goal difference is to thrash Newcastle in our last home game. Won't be easy but we wouldn't have a choice.

I hope it doesn't come down to goal difference if we are going to lose our title. That is just too painful to take! Rather lose it on points.

It'll be a bit tougher than last season. We've been much better at home than last season, only dropping two points at home in the league and even that was because of a rare van der Sar brainfart.

Let's hope another referee mistake isn't the main talking point to come out of the game.

That will even things up as Atkinson was in charge first up in London . However , I don't expect Ancelotti to come out and whine "when I heard Webb was officiating this match , that was when I feared the most" as Fergie did a few months back at the Bridge . :p

But he was completely right, wasn't he? A stronger referee would never have given that penalty against Smalling - no chance.

As Auwais said, let's just hope that a daft refereeing decision doesn't decide the game - or at least said refereeing decision to go for Utd, because we are sure as hell due one or four against Chelsea in the league. Just think - if it wasn't for those terrible decisions at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge last year, we'd now be going for five in a row! It would take a very long time before any team got anywhere near that.

I might be wrong, but I worked out that any sort of win for you would edge you top by goal difference - one or two maybe.

Blaming your team's failure on achieving a target down to two matches is really not ideal as it evens itself out during the course of the season.

Yup. If we do beat you on Sunday, then we'll go top because our goal difference will then be better by at least 1. Then as I said, we would probably have to really thrash Newcastle in the following game to increase the goal difference as I can't see us doing that against Everton at Goodison Park.

If not, then it's going to be tough for us because I can certainly see you racking up a lot of goals in your home game against Blackpool, assuming if it does come down to goal difference. But I do hope that it doesn't come down to that.

However, until then, lets just see what happens this weekend.

PL Table

Saw that on Opta. How Arsenal fans must be wishing if that was a reality... :lol

That's such a shame for Arsenal! They have a very good side but sometimes just lack the mental game to compliment that physical. They have showed they can still play without Fabregas which will be a positive and if he moves they have to use that money to bolster the squad.

I have no idea who they could really buy though :p. They need a solid goalkeeper though, that's where they really need improvement.

@ Opta : Ouch , we would have hit the top 4 then . :p Really got to feel for Arsenal & West Ham though .

To be fair, I think this young lad Wojciech Szczesny (if thats how you spell his name) has done a pretty good job as a keeper.
I agree that he cost Arsenal in the closing minutes of the final against Birmingham (I think- Arsenal fans do not want to look back at defeats :p).
But I think he can be a great keeper.
