It's got nothing to do with 'how good Utd are ATM' - it's more to do with the obvious complacency shown when they went out for the second half. Remember we took City to pieces in the first half?

Team of the year is a huge disappointment. It's just a Barca/Utd/Real orgy.

Wayne Rooney being in there is a joke and so is David Luiz being nominated. Amazes me to see no RVP, and other than that Gomez, Cavani, Di Natale and some others would be worthy of Rooney's place.

The only qualm I have over the side is Pique over Silva or Kompany. Pique's had a really poor season thus far.

The difference between Rooney and all of those players is that Rooney's contribution meant that Utd achieved success. When you look at Utd's side last season, Rooney's contribution can not be understated. His goal scoring was in patches but that doesn't mean his form was in patches as well.

If all that's needed to make the TOTY is success for your team, then I don't see why anyone other than Utd, Barca, Lille, AC Milan, Porto and Dortmund should be in there. Why Real then?

The truth is in the PL RVP is a MUCH better choice, arguably he makes Arsenal "a one man team". Look at his goals and his goals to games ratio. Mario Gomez is the same, 50 goals in 2011 for club and country is not to be taken lightly. Di Natale and Cavani both have great goalscoring records. With RVP most deserving, any of these four deserve Rooney's place.

I think choosing Rooney over RVP is just a personal preference. Both deserve to be in the team and I don't really think Rooney's choice is poor. Gomez is an interesting player as I don't really think he's that good, he's just effective. Cavani and Di Natale didn't do it on the biggest stages.

To be honest, there's probably about 50+ players for 11 (+ subs) spots. So, in the end, they can't pick everyone and they can't please everyone.

C'est la vie.

Only when city had 10 men, and you would be very upset if you couldnt take apart 10 men.

first 10 minutes when both sides had 11, city were the better side

You know we where leading when both teams had 11 men.. ;)

Kompanys appeal gets rejected, is that saying that kind of tackle warrants a red card? Personally I think the max you could give it was a harsh yellow

No, it seems over the last few weeks the FA have been almost desperate to back their refs. There have been a few that should either have been rescinded or retrospectively punished, but nothing has been. Not really sure what's going on to be honest:noway

I think for it to be rescinded it has to be obvious that it was the wrong decision rather than it just being the wrong decision, or something along those lines.

What about Joey Barton? Pretty much everyone said the same thing. "Unlucky, but his reputation preceeded him." Appeal placed - Rejected. These, coupled with their refusal to punish Chris Foy for 3 attrocious performances in the space of a month, and it does seem the FA are making more of an effort to back their refs. Not necessarily a bad thing either.

There was a thing in the paper recently saying that the FA have a conviction rate of 98.2% or something stupid and an appeal success rate of about 3%...
