It does make sense when that's all you've won in 6 years and you're celebrating it like it's the title...

Yes, thank you, Captain Obvious. It's not as if Liverpool's players themselves haven't already said as much. Bellamy also already said that if they could only choose one then they would choose top 4 over the Carling Cup Trophy.

6 years is too long for a club of Liverpool's stature so it's hoped that this will spur them onto greater things.

Besides, you don't curb celebrations based on how much a trophy is worth. You celebrate in the moment and in that moment if you're champions, then you celebrate like/as champions.

What a game that Carling Cup final was - you can say everything you want about the competition, but the final often throws up great games/shocks, or both. Unlucky Cardiff, you did the Championship very proud indeed. Damn shame - they missed a couple of chances they really should've put away.

I wonder if Steve Gerrard went over to console his cousin at any point... :D

Norwich v Utd wasn't too shabby either - I had a feeling we were going to nick it, just as I had a feeling that Norwich were going to equalise. Giggs - what an amazing player! Such a damn shame he wasn't English - who knows how things might have turned out had he played for England? There's no doubt in my mind we'd have won Euro '96 at the very least. Oh well.

Shifting of power in North London.

Bahaha:lol.

Carling Cup final was nice and surprising yet again, very tense. Makes me remember last season though :( .

Oh but Cardiff and Liverpool demonstrated a real improvement in penalty taking under pressure yesterday. With the Euros this summer; draw after 120 minutes = defeat... (optimistically assuming we reach the knock-out stage).

He was the first to do that. Incredible final that, too nervous for my liking, but thank god we pulled it off. Cardiff like you said have done the Championship proud. Portrayed superb passion and spirit.

Also I'm so furious with KD that he played Henderson ahead of Kuyt. Kuyt comes on - scores in E.T, pulls off a goal line clearance, and scores a penalty in arguably the most pressurizing situations ever (remember the two before him had missed their respective kicks!)

Downing had his best game in an LFC shirt, while I've totally given up on Adam. His penalty made it to Ireland!

Ha ha! He does look a bit too happy about it, doesn't he? :D

@Barmy - England and penalties. Let's not go there, eh? It's too bloody depressing! As you said, reaching the knockout stages will be damned tricky to start with.

Liverpool vs. Arsenal

Hopefully Shelvey is on the bench and gets a run out. It's actually making me mad that we brought him back from loan only to let him rot on the bench when he could be developing.

Would absolutely love to see him starting; I think he's our only central midfielder with any creativity in his passing/attacking. With Adam you're gonna get long diagonal balls that rarely find their target, and, when they do, rarely lead to scoring opportunities. I love Henderson, but for whatever reason he looks scared to go forward and attempt anything even remotely dynamic. And Spearing really is what he is. If he can win the ball and distribute short balls he has done his job.

Home game, so definitely a draw today. In all seriousness, we need to treat this like another cup final.

If your referring to the manner we treated the Carling Cup final, we should be more than happy with a draw today. We were so awful then. Seriously though, anything but a win, and we can bid adieu to the Top 4. Also I'm going to bang myself on the wall if Kuyt doesn't start today.

Nice to see Benayoun and Rosicky getting another game. Would really like to see Gervinho starting soon as well. He has been far from brilliant this season but still like him much more as a player than I like Walcott.

I reckon we'll win, putting you guys out of the top four race with Newcastle.

Always interesting to see how players play against the clubs they supported as a kid. Now it's time to watch Walcott vs his former heroes.
