That's complete and utter rubbish to sack him. He deserved to keep going. I thought he was going to.

I don't think many people picked him as the first to be sacked this season.

Anyway, I really hope he gets another top job, beats Chelsea and wins another trophy.

Indeed. Sacking a manager who's gifted this football club their greatest ever day doing the trophy double winning both the CL and the FA Cup inside the first six months of his tenure? Roman's a joke.

Chelsea ready to bring in ex-Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez to replace Roberto Di Matteo | Chelsea News, Fixtures, Results, Transfers | Sky Sports

Don't do it man. Just don't.

Although Guillem Balague just tweeted Rafa was never ever approached by Chelsea. The two see each other in Abu Dhabi nowadays.

Who's going to replace him? I don't think Rafa will do it, I doubt Pep will unless Roman actually had a prior agreement with him or something (he isn't going to do a better job than Di Matteo regardless).

I knew that Di Matteo's one-year contract seemed fishy. I guess he was waiting for the perfect moment to drop him.

I really don't think anyone saw this coming.

Looks like Abramovich is overestimating his squad too - Chelsea were not good enough to win the CL last year, so it's no surprise that they should be the first champions not to make it past the group stage. Adding Hazard and Oscar to that squad while removing Drogba weakens the squad, it doesn't improve it.

Appalling from Abramovich and Chelsea.

They're third in the PL, still in the CL and badly missing Terry. Could there be a bigger idiot than Abramovich? We all thought it was bad only giving coaches one season but this takes the piss.
Especially as part of Di Matteo's problem was keeping faith with the boss's pet project Torres.
I have a soft spot for Chelsea but Abramovich is a disaster.

it's nonsense, the EPL, especially the money clubs, are just too concerned with status. you have to be manager with an array of trophy's from abroad and tipped as the next ferguson to get a gig with the top teams.

di matteo coming in as an stop gap ex-assistant with little experience just didn't have the draw regardless of his record.

I reckon he could do a good job at Chelsea. Depends though, if it's the Rafa that won the CL, or the Rafa that bought David N'Gog.

Sincerely hope it's the Rafa who managed Inter. :D Torres might as well resurrect his career at Chelsea though, with Rafa at the helms.

Maybe the sacking had something to do with Di Matteo dropping Abramovich's 50 m man? I don't think Abramovich wants to be made to look like an idiot (That ship has sailed though), such that his 50 m player is a complete dud.

Probably.

Ancelotti - benches Torres during title deciding clash v Man Utd - loses, sacked
AVB - benches Torres v West Brom - loses, sacked
RDM - benches Torres v Juventus - loses, sacked

Who saw it coming now? At the end of the season, maybe. I saw it on FB and thought it was a joke.

Ha which manager in his right mind would want to manage Chelsea. Of all of the sackings, Roman has done, this one seems the worst. We always thought his motive was the inability to win the champions league - now its all crazyness now.

At this rate is certainly expect players like Torres, Lampard, Sturridge and Cole to go to the rumours destinations in January.

There's absolutely no way Torres would be leaving Chelsea if Rafa lands the job. The former's probably the happiest person on this planet right now.
