TBH, I saw it coming in December after yesterday's interview when he shirked the question about whether he had the board's backing with a wry smile and a very vague and irrelevant answer. But certainly not so soon.

Don't do it, Rafa.

I'd love to see Harry Redknapp at Chelsea. Its been a while since a major English manager was in control of one of the major clubs in the premiership.

Actually embarassed to be a Chelsea fan right now,

Thanks RDM you couldn't have done anymore, enjoy your pay off you deserve every penny you get,

Roman:facepalm

I sort of expect Ray Wilkins to come running out during the press conference and smash Rafa over the head with a chair. He'll then challenge him to triple threat casket match at Sackomania with the "Special One" returning after being set alight in an inferno cage fight. Winner gets to be Heavyweight champion of Stamford Bridge for a week.

Fernandes finally lets go of Hughes.

I'm thinking QPR should survive pretty easily now, as long as their manager is half decent. Arry maybe? They'd at least get to mid table in the near future with him in charge.

Perfect result for us - I believe that puts us back top. :) As I said before, it's going to be topsy-turvy between the three teams for the whole season.

WBA are in third.... what the hell?

On one hand, Roman has been fantastic for the club - loadsa money, obviously - but on the other, well let's just say that Man Utd gave Sir Alex quite a bit of time and we all know how that ended up. Chelsea's managerial position could very quickly end up becoming a Poisoned Chalice on a level with the England job, if it hasn't already done so.

And according to the Sun (yeah I know, not the best source), Pep wants to hold fire on going to Chelsea while he waits for Sir Alex to retire. :)

Benitez at Chelsea though: the Fat Spanish Waiter returns. :p RDM has been treated atrociously by Roman - but there you go: Roman has Real Madrid levels of aspiration when it comes to the CL now.

Thing is I'm a believer that the influence a manager has is totally over hyped when a team is doing well and vice versa when a team is struggling

Don't get me wrong there are exceptions, Sir Alex and Jose, but even those 2 would struggle to do a good job say at villa right now

The players are the key, you have a team like Spain to manage even I couldn't fail

As for Chelsea, it don't really bother me who is in charge, we are in desperate need of a decent forward, Torres is totally shot

Give Benitez a chance, that is all you can do, and then wait for the circus in the summer, will it be Pep, Jose,?

Sounds like the fans aren't prepared to do that - did you hear them during the game today?

Torres... that's got to be one of the biggest football mysteries of all time. He's not too old, he's not injured - what's going on with him? Perhaps something off the pitch that no one knows about.

On our game, same old Liverpool - lacked that cutting edge inside the final third, as well as the extra midfield bite/dynamism. Also Sterling really should have done better with his pass to Suarez during that 2 v 1 situation. Enrique's improved heaps over the last month, it has to be said. On Enrique's disallowed goal, thought the right decision was made by the linesman, though our boss thinks otherwise...

Facts:

1. Liverpool are winless in all of their 8 League games played on Sundays this season.

2. Liverpool haven't scored past the 74th minute in the League this season. In contrast, they've conceded twice between minutes 75-90.

Give Benitez a chance, that is all you can do

Good on you, cos not many Chelsea fans happen to share that view, sadly. "RAFA OUT" banners even before the start of the game - disgusting really!

We have probably got the most deluded fans in football.

I'm a Chelsea fan but I'm not a follower of trends, we have so many fans who won't say a bad word against Terry, even though he is a twat, they defend him no matter what

In life Im always honest, to the point where it seems I'm rude but I'm just not afraid to say what I feel, and right now as a fan, we Chelsea are the laughing stock of football, and by today's reaction to the new manager says it all.

Benitez didn't get Di Matteo the sack, our owner with no morals decided his fate, it's his club he can do what he wants, so why not boo him instead..?

No because without him we would be nothing, the biggest mistake he has made was getting rid of Carlo Ancelotti, he would of been into his 4th season now and would have given us the stability we needed

O well being a Chelsea fan is never straight forward

Arsenal have been really stable for the last decade... not exactly on the phone to Bob the Builder to get a new cabinet installed :spy
