Good comeback from City today after last week; they're not going to relinquish this title easily, we'll have to prise it from their hands. So be it - since when have Utd done things the easy way in any case?

Just no. City absolutely slaughtered Newcastle in the first half. Newcastle were alright in the second 45, but not good enough. I salute Yaya Toure - have no idea what City would be without him, come the African Cup of Nations!

I think the relegation battle might become more interesting that the title race if today's games are anything to go by.

Meaningless trophy, but it speaks levels about Chelsea and Benitez that they couldn't even beat Corinthians.

it's only a meaningless trophy for those who view it that way. it isn't meaningless to the 15 thousand cortinthians fans who travelled to japan for it, nor is it meaningless to those lining the streets of sao paulo at 10am local time partying.

Suppose you need to win a few trophies first to be able have an opinion.

there is definitely a niche/market for a world club cup of sorts. it's viewed as meaningless from a European perspective for now, but i suspect it's growing to go in stature/reputation.

Its a huge trophy in South America.


It does have the potential of becoming an amazing event, only if its schedule and format was changed.
