Only Ashley Williams will know whether or not it was deliberate. He's a prick anyway, Ashley.

Was it deliberate. Yes it was, he knew exactly what he was doing

Was it as bad as sir Alex said? No, it wasn't no where near as bad as he is making out, bad sportsmanship yes,

I'd be more pissed at how poor Rooney was.

Laughable defensively but our firepower bailed us out. Carrick was class again, really comes out of his shell when Scholes isn't playing alongside him.

Last minute goal and we're well ahead 5 points on top of the table :cheers

Didn't got the chance to watch full match except for last minute goal but were our defenders played badly or New Castle played really really well? They were ahead for whole game till 90 minutes.

Wow. What an amazing day in the Premiership (again) - an awesome result for us! Seven points clear heading towards the New Year! Happy bloomin' Christmas!

Yeah, but that was an aberration - Rooney doesn't generally play that badly for more than an isolated game here or there - he was truly awful; probably among his worst performances in a Utd shirt. Not entirely surprised he was dropped today. Our goals conceded is a bit worrying: twenty eight, compared to around fifteen for our two main rivals. Still, the only number that really counts has us seven points clear. :)

Ha its very surprising how the great ferguson hasn't realized after halfway of the season that playing Scholes/Giggs/Carrick together in a 4-4-2 just doesn't work.

Its pretty much the sole reasons why the sole reason why team are running @ united's defense so easily. Fletcher really should be starting more.

This Robbie Savage comment on the ongoing bbc sport matchday commentary pretty much sums up the manchester clubs problems:

quote said:
Former Wales, Leicester and Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage on Final Score:

"I think teams have worked out Manchester City this season. Sunderland, like other teams, defend narrow as City's intricate, skilful players do not go wide very often.

"If Dzeko as a Plan B doesn't work, then they often do not score.

"Also, City's signings have not worked out. You do not win the Premier League and sign Scott Sinclair, Javi Garcia, Richard Wright and Jack Rodwell and expect to strengthen when Manchester United sign Robin van Persie."

Well, Fletcher's the only real ball winning midfielder we have, so I'm just as bemused as to why he isn't played more.

Perhaps other teams are beginning to 'find City out'? Remember guys, winning the first one is one thing, continuing the success - now that's the mark of a truly great team. ;)

One thing's for sure, for City to win the league, Utd will have to once again fritter away a sizeable lead. In that regard, history is with us, along with the usual stuff about the team being top at Christmas. However, we can't take it for granted; something has to change in our defensive play! Twenty eight goals conceded is far too much for potential champions.

well the thing is as many goals as united concede, how many points clear are they?

they are winning games. if they changed their side they would probably score less, who is to say whether they would even pick up the same amount of points?

I suppose you have a point there - maybe Utd are just going down the 'we're gonna score one more than you' route. Which of course is a lot of fun to watch, for the neutrals. ;)

indeed. It seems a lot of teams are more attacking this season. 0-0nils and to an extent even clean sheets have been sparse. Everton's games seem to be averaging a goal-a-game more than for most seasons of moyes' tenure.

to almost quote Graeme Swann on twitter, it seems most sides have been employing kevin keegan as tactical adviser.
