of the last 16 finalists, 8 were english.

Liverpool twice, united 3 times, chelsea twice and arsenal.

the time inter played barca is cancelled out by chelsea v united. One in each of the other 6.

Yes mr ste_mc_efc i'm well aware of this.

Be honest Lee, you never had a point :p

The only bit that was really relevant to football though was War failing to understand how 8 English teams could have competed in the last 8 Champions League Finals.

I imagine he also struggles to grasp how a striker can have scored 10 goals in 10 games which includes a hat trick... It's pretty tricky stuff to be fair, so we'll give him a week to really study it and consult others for advice.

:lol smh your initial words were "8 English teams have made the last 8 Champions League Finals". That means for the last 8 consecutive finals they should have been an english team in the final, but that wasn't the case because there was a inter vs barca final in 2010.

However now saying 8 have competed is obviously different, since the chelsea vs united vs final in 08 would bring the equation to 8 brit teams in the last counted 8 finals. Which then would clearly be similar to a striker scoring 10 goals in 10 games even if its not scoring 10 consecutively.

He may have scored 2 hat-tricks & a helmet trick & 7 other scoreless games during this sequence.

All of this though is just side show talk, since you have yet to give a sane reasons why the english football season does not need a winter break or can do without the league cup. Other than dull cheap shots at the england nation team & arguing against assertion like "scrapping christmas football" that i never once suggested.

oh is this the "realise you've been a bit slow so dig a hole and argue about semantics to save face" stage?

Can we get back to the football talk now? gibson is one of the most underrated players in the league.

I really haven't actually watched much of Everton this year. In fact due to working most weekends I've missed quite a lot of football that I normall see. Has Gibson been playing most of the year? Been fairly influential then?

he's had a couple of injuries so probably only played about half the matches. We play much worse without him, just lack composure. Always too open to counter and we struggle to clear our lines effectively without him mopping up. Neville and osman as a pair just don't have the physical presence defensively or the legs to cover enough ground.

To use a horrible cliche he is an unsung hero.

Worst Villa side I've ever seen.

Shame they were one of my favourite teams in the late 80,s and early 90s.

Daley, Atkinson, Platt, Saunders,

They were easily the best mid-table side in the Prem before Young and Downing left them a couple of years back.

Never liked Villa. Julian joachim and Lee hendrie always rubbed me the wrong way for some unknown reason.

Sad to see the Britannia so empty. Playing the champions at home in the cup. 20 quid tickets. Quite frankly embarrassing for a premier league club

And, ignoring the score, there were 26,501 at Carrow Road today. The club got it right with tickets being ?10 for adults. Shame everything else about it was so wrong.

Very best part about today!

Going back to Villa, bloody hate them and I would be so happy to see them go down. They need taking down a peg or two, and with Lambert at the helm I see that being a very real possibility.

Here comes the Norwich collapse I predicted at the start of the season ;) Maybe :spy

Oh and don't be too harsh to Stoke. They actually have a very good fanbase that are very loyal, but as much as they cleared the snow around the ground to get the game ahead, that doesn't change the fact that the surrounding roads in the city itself were probably not great.

I like stoke. Have done since I went the britannia in their first season in the prem, been them on 3 different iteration of FM since. I always defend them when people criticise their style of play. But the point remains that in a big game, with their home record they should have sold out that ground, at 20 pound for an adult ticket. Off the top of my head i think it's 28k capacity.

Their home support is probably better than most in the league, certainly more vociferous that most. Which is why this is so strange.

Like I said, with the snow they had, as much as the game wa playable, the outlying areas of Stoke were unlikely to be great for traveling.

Annoying how the press is making out our game yesterday to be some sort of miraculous, history-making giantkilling. It really isn't. I am still ashamed of how we played. The Luton fans actually deserved more of a test than we gave them. There is absolutely nothing good about yesterday from our point of view, so we have to forget about it and look towards Spurs on Wednesday.

QPR away next Saturday is now looking like a massive game.
